Mini Review: Pact With A Heartbreaker (Havenbrook #2.5) by: Brighton Walsh

Release Date: July 11, 2019
Goodreads | Amazon
Source: I received a complementary copy of this book from the author and voluntarily provided a fair and honest review.
"Mackenna Haven is desperate to leave Havenbrook, Mississippi behind. After spending her whole life under the thumb of her overbearing father, she's ready for the freedom college will bring. Especially if that freedom means spending more time with her best friend…and unrequited love.

Hudson Miller's been the man of the house since his dad died nearly ten years ago. The only escape he has from those responsibilities is the stolen moments when he’s with Kenna. As much as he wants to tell her he’s been in love with her for years, the red X looming on his calendar could change everything between them.

A week before school starts, Hudson proposes a trip away with Mackenna as one last weekend together before college responsibilities creep in. Except it could be one last weekend together, period. Because the secret he's been keeping from her could tear them apart forever."

My Thoughts:

In a short amount of pages, Brighton Walsh managed to rip my heart out of my chest. I have loved Mac in the other books in this series, but now I just absolutely adore her. Her and Hudson just became my favorites of this series and I cannot wait to get my hands on their full length novel. Friends to more is one of my favorite tropes and Mac and Hudson are everything I love about that trope. They have such great banter and are so much fun together and then their chemistry is off the charts. But this novella is not the end of their story and I just cannot wait to see what happens with them years down the line. These two are going to have so much to work out and I know it’s not going to be easy but I also know Brighton Walsh will deliver a sweet and funny and witty and hot as hell read and I simply cannot wait. If you’ve already started this series you have got to get your hands on this novella and if you haven’t started the series yet then you can dive right into this novella since its technically a prequel to the first book… either way this is a short and steamy and heartbreaking read that is not to be missed.
