"With a touch, Lexi can sense how and when someone will die. Some say it’s a gift. But to Lexi it’s a curse—one that keeps her friendless and alone. All that changes when Lexi foresees the violent death of a young woman, Jane, outside a club. But Jane doesn’t go to the afterlife quietly. Her ghost remains behind, determined to hunt down her murderer, and she needs Lexi’s help. In life, Jane was everything Lexi is not—outgoing, happy, popular. But in death, all Jane wants is revenge. Lexi will do anything to help Jane, to make up for the fact that she didn’t—couldn’t—save Jane’s life, and to keep this beautiful ghost of a girl by her side for as long as possible."

My Thoughts:

This was such a weird little book, but it was so good and so addictive. The book is very much grounded in today’s world but smack in the middle of it all there are witches and psychics and a girl who can see the dead. I loved how the book just dropped a bunch of weird into our world.

Lexi is the kind of heroine that just breaks your heart. She feels so isolated and alone and that’s to be expected when anytime you touch someone you see their death. Lexi does not have it easy and my heart hurt for her. She clearly tries to cut people off, but there are some who work their way in. I loved Nicole and Ilia and I especially loved our very annoying yet adorable ghost Trevor (seriously such a scene stealer). But none of them get past her walls the way Jane does. Jane is another ghost who has been murdered and Lexi tries to help her find her murderer as she feels responsible for not being able to stop it. Jane and Lexi clearly form a bond that continues to grow and they both get one another. Ghost romances are a TOUGH sell because well obvious reasons… but it worked so well here. I really loved these two.

At the base of it all though this is a murder mystery and the mystery keeps you on your toes. It’s hard to pinpoint the killer and I loved how the story mixed more traditional ways of catching a killer with Lexi and her friend’s weird little gifts. It definitely kept me turning pages past my bedtime.

All in all, Missing, Presumed Dead is a good read. It’s a great mix of mystery and paranormal with some really great characters. This one definitely exceeded my expectations.

  1. This story sounds like my kind of weird! Poor Lexi. I would not want to have her ability to see people's deaths. The ghosts sound like fun characters. What a great paranormal page-turning murder mystery! Excellent Review Teresa!
