"It is only three years since Tessa Gray lost her beloved husband William Herondale, and she is searching for a reason to live, trying to find the path of being a warlock with the guidance of her friend Catarina Loss. World War 2 rains down destruction on their world, and Tessa and Catarina become nurses who make bargains at the Shadow Market for enchantments to help suffering mundanes. But can Brother Zachariah bear to see the woman he loves risk her life, or might he consider breaking sacred vows to save her from loneliness?"

My Thoughts:

I have a bone to pick with Cassandra Clare and Maureen Johnson… how dare they write a book specifically designed to make me cry. I mean first I had to be in a world without Will Herondale, and then I had to witness poor Tessa grieving for Will and Jem too and on top of that Jem and Tessa so clearly wanting what cannot be and my heart was ripped to shreds. But of course I loved every single second of it. Will and Jem and Tessa are forever my favorites and even though I had to be in a Will-less world, I still adored being with Tessa and Jem for a short time. Tessa is an extraordinary woman and I'll forever idolize her. And Jem is just... Jem and the best. These novellas have been so wonderful as a whole and this was one of my favorites of them. I’ll never tire of catching up with these characters.
