"A series of chance encounters leads to a sizzling new romance from the New York Times bestselling author of the On Dublin Street series.

The universe is conspiring against Ava Breevort. As if flying back to Phoenix to bury a childhood friend wasn't hell enough, a cloud of volcanic ash traveling from overseas delayed her flight back home to Boston. Her last ditch attempt to salvage the trip was thwarted by an arrogant Scotsman, Caleb Scott, who steals a first class seat out from under her. Then over the course of their journey home, their antagonism somehow lands them in bed for the steamiest layover Ava's ever had. And that's all it was--until Caleb shows up on her doorstep.

When pure chance pulls Ava back into Caleb's orbit, he proposes they enjoy their physical connection while he's stranded in Boston. Ava agrees, knowing her heart's in no danger since a) she barely likes Caleb and b) his existence in her life is temporary. Not long thereafter Ava realizes she's made a terrible error because as it turns out Caleb Scott isn't quite so unlikeable after all. When his stay in Boston becomes permanent, Ava must decide whether to fight her feelings for him or give into them. But even if she does decide to risk her heart on Caleb, there is no guarantee her stubborn Scot will want to risk his heart on her...."

My Thoughts:

Fight Or Flight is another good read from Samantha Young. It has great wit and banter and is a lot of fun but it also has a strong emotional current running through it and honestly it packed more of a punch than I was expecting.

Ava is great. She is so sassy and strong and she has been through so much. I love how terrible things from her past only made her stronger and more determined. I really loved how much she grew over the book as well. I liked her a lot and I liked how determined she was. And now is when I'd normally talk about the love interest but instead I want to talk about Harper, Ava’s best friend. I adored Harper. She is a great friend to Ava and I loved their friendship. They were always there for one another and were more family than they were friends. I’m forever here for strong female friendship because I think it’s important to represent. Also Harper need a book ASAP as possible. And I know who I want her to end up with. I guess I should talk about Caleb now. I liked Caleb, he was super witty and his banter with Ava was great. But I will say I didn’t love him. He really pissed me off at times and there were moments where I only forgave him because it was clear it was what Ava wanted. Yes he was swoony and charming and sweet but he could also be very entitled and kind of an asshole. But in the end I rooted for Ava and Caleb because it’s clear they worked well together.

I will say this cover is a bit deceiving. From it I was expecting this to be much more lighthearted than it was. This book packed a punch and it was very emotional. Both Ava and Caleb (and Harper too) have rough pasts and they still need to work through a lot of that. And like I said, from the cover I wasn’t expecting that. It’s not a bad thing but I was a bit jolted once I realized what this was gonna be.

Fight Or Flight was a good read and I really do hope we get more in this world because I’d love for Harper to get a story. Plus Caleb and Ava are fun and I wouldn’t mind visiting them again. All in all, this is an emotional read with some great wit and banter.

  1. This is a popular book today. I heard great things, you offered something new though, from all the reviews I've come across, you're the only one who mentioned that this is a little emotional. Other kept saying it's fun etc. Good job!

    1. I mean it is definitely has fun moments but to me the main thread was very emotional!

I love getting comments and appreciate every single one of them! It always brightens my day =]

This is an award free blog. I truly appreciate the thought but I simply do not have the time. Comments are an award all on their own =]
