"When seventeen-year-old Evie Dasher is caught up in a raid at a notorious club known as one of the few places where humans and the surviving Luxen can mingle freely, she meets Luc, an unnaturally beautiful guy she initially assumes is a Luxen...but he is in fact something much more powerful. Her growing attraction for Luc will lead her deeper and deeper into a world she'd only heard about, a world where everything she thought she knew will be turned on its head...

#1 New York Times, USA Today, and internationally bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout returns to the universe of the Lux in this brand new series, featuring beloved characters both new and old."

My Thoughts:

This is one of my most anticipated reads of the year and it delivered in every single way. I’ve been a JLA fan since her debut year and her Lux series has always been one that holds a very special place in my heart. So naturally when I found out we were going back to that world I was so excited and I’m so happy this book was everything I hoped it would be.

So I don’t want to say that Luc is better than Daemon because Daemon is forever a favorite of mine BUT Luc really does give Daemon a run for his money. Luc has always been an enigma and it was great getting to know him better. That boy is so sassy and so charming but also so infuriating and I loved him. The banter is top notch. It’s JLA wit at its best. And of course I adored Evie. She’s so strong and so fearless and refuses to be intimidated. And her and Luc have some crazy chemistry. JLA knows how to bring the swoon.

I also LOVED the secondary cast of characters. And I loved how Evie had some really great girlfriends. Heidi and Zoe are such good friends to Evie and I always love positive female friendships. I also adored Emery and Kent and Grayson cracked me up.

The Darkest Star is an addictive read. The twists and turns keep on coming and it’s just so hard to put down. I was engaged from beginning to end and absorbed in the story. I just wanted answers so badly and I loved being along for the ride.

My favorite thing about this though was how it truly did stand alone. If you have read the Lux books there are some fun tid bits and one liners you pick up on and you do have a leg up on some world knowledge, but even if you’ve never read the Lux books you could completely understand what is going on here. This is 100% Luc and Evie’s story and they take the spotlight as they should. And you know I didn’t even care that I didn’t get to see much of certain favorite characters because they’ve all been through enough.

The Darkest Star is an amazing read. It’s classic JLA! It really feels like some of her older paranormal stuff. I have yet to read a JLA book I didn’t adore but this is definitely one of her best and I really think she shines with her paranormal books. I’m already eagerly anticipating the sequel to this one.

This is an award free blog. I truly appreciate the thought but I simply do not have the time. Comments are an award all on their own =]
