"On Christmas Eve five years ago, Holly was visited by three ghosts who showed her how selfish and
spoiled she'd become. They tried to convince her to mend her ways.

She didn't.

And then she died.

Now she's stuck working for the top-secret company Project Scrooge--as the latest Ghost of Christmas Past.

Every year, they save another miserly grouch. Every year, Holly stays frozen at seventeen while her family and friends go on living without her. So far, Holly's afterlife has been miserable.

But this year, everything is about to change. . . ."

My Thoughts:

This book was so much fun. It’s one of those books that is relatively light hearted but still manages to punch you in the gut every now and then. This book was filled with such wonderful characters and my Christmas loving heart loved this twist on A Christmas Carol.

I have to start with Holly, because I absolutely loved Holly. And what I loved most about Holly is how unlikable she is. Honestly, Holly is a terrible person when we first meet her and even along the way she grows but she still has her flaws and could be considered selfish and stuck up. To me this is what made her great. Because behind that flawed, selfish, and spoiled girl was a girl who endured a lot of heartache at a young age and coped with it the only way she knew how.

And then there was a wonderful cast of secondary characters. Ethan is another one whose flaws made him better. Grant and Marty were a bunch of fun. Boz was great and Dave was so sweet and kind. And my favorite of them all was Stephanie. She was such a great character and a great friend to Holly.

This book was a great blend of contemporary and fantasy. It definitely takes place in the real world but has this fantasy otherworld aspect to it. Holly comes such a long way over the course of the book and I loved her journey. I also loved Project Scrooge as a whole. The whole idea was so wonderfully put together and the way they orchestrated the Christmas ghosts was great. The book takes place over a whole year and we watch Project Scrooge tackle a Scrooge from beginning to end. I did think it dragged a tiny bit in the middle, but in the end it all came together well.

The Afterlife Of Holly Chase is a great modern day twist on A Christmas Carol. It’s about learning and growth and coming to terms with what life throws at you and what you give back. I truly enjoyed it beginning to end.
