Mini Review: My Peace (Beautifully Broken #5) by: Courtney Cole

Release Date: January 13, 2017
Goodreads | Amazon
Source: I received a copy of this book from the author and voluntarily provided a fair and honest review.
"You only thought Pax Tate was an asshole before…

Pax Tate used to be a drug-addicted jerk, but you’d never know it now. He’s got a sexy pregnant wife, their own little family, a cozy home, and a successful career.

Everything is perfect.

Until someone from his past shows up.

Pax doesn’t hesitate to bring all the fury of hell with him in order to protect his family.

You thought he was an asshole before?

Just wait until you see him now."

My Thoughts:

I have such conflicting feelings over this book. See. This book screws with my HEA. And it screws with it in a big way. Pax and Mila have already been through hell and I hated seeing them go through more hell. They are now happily married with a little girl and my heart hated seeing the three of them put through the wringer again. And it’s hard because I really appreciate the authors reasons for writing this book and I know that real life isn’t always pretty. BUT this is fictional and in my fictional brain Pax and Mila were very happy and I just hate knowing that this happened to them. Also there is something that happens that impacts the little girl that I did not like AT ALL. I think I also need to acknowledge that it’s been years since I read If You Stay and I’m not sure that I would have loved Pax the same if I read the book today. I’m a different Teresa now. I will say though that the story was good and had it not been characters I already knew getting screwed with I probably would have liked it more. And I did love the end and how it all came together. And there was a cute little twist at the end that made me smile. So like I said, I can’t say I hated this book but there is stuff that holds me back from adoring it. So yeah. I’m very torn with my feelings.

  1. Awwww. It sucks when you feel sort of half-hearted about a book. I think this novella would irritate and frustrate me a little. Novellas are dangerous!

I'm sorry you didn't totally enjoy this one, Teresa!

    Have a great day. =)

  2. Oh no :/ That really sucks that the author kinda ruined the HEA of some characters who already loved. It's nice getting peeks into old characters' lives but not if those lives are just being made hard and unhappy! I would definitely be upset about that too :/

Hopefully your next read is better!

I love getting comments and appreciate every single one of them! It always brightens my day =]

This is an award free blog. I truly appreciate the thought but I simply do not have the time. Comments are an award all on their own =]
