My Thoughts:

I am the first to admit to my twi-hard status and I was one of the few who was actually excited when this was announced. I even wrote an entire post defending it here. I was pretty excited that our bonus material was basically another book that would give us an interesting look into the authors writing. I was also really excited for a strong female vampire to take center stage.

I’m really glad I finally got around to this one because I really did enjoy it. I’ll admit that it did take me a bit to adjust to the flipped characters because I know the original ones so well, but once I adjusted I was good to go. It was interesting to see how the story changes when you flip genders but how it also really stays the same. Edythe is as sulky and overprotective as Edward and Beau is still the one in danger. I also loved that Beau never once balked at a girl who was stronger than him but loved her all the more for it. The story was basically the same, with one pretty big twist, but I enjoyed Twilight so I enjoyed reliving it in a different way.

Life and Death isn’t a book for everyone. It’s really meant as a fun extra for Twilight fans who want to see the story that could have been. It’s not cannon and its doesn’t add anything to the Twilight world we know but it was fun nonetheless. I’m glad I made time for this one.

  1. Now that I know you enjoyed this, I'm more curious about it. I wasn't sure what to make of the gender swap, but I do like the fact that the girl is stronger and the guy has to be protected. It'd be fun if more stories were like that! Great review girl! xx

  2. I am a bit of a twilight fan myself but i haven't read it yet maybe because i don't really feel like i am obsessed about the series anymore .... but somehow i just wanted the original characters to remain as they were without any need for a gender bender. But reading your review has made me realize that maybe i should give it a chance first. Lets see.

Great Review by the way :)

  3. Great review! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. I am a big Twilight fan too and I started this one, but I never got around to finishing it yet. Mostly because the book was too heavy for me to keep throwing in my bag to carry around with me. I definitely need to make the time though. I love the whole gender bend idea and I'm all for a little extra Twilight.

  4. I'm really glad you enjoyed this one! I can't wait to get to it and have some Twilight in my life again. Great review! <3

  5. Lovely review! I'm glad you enjoyed it because I'm a Twilight fan as well and I was wondering if I should read this one. Even though it took you a bit to get used to the characters being flipped, I'm glad you were able to get into it quite nicely. I'm so curious about that and to see how the characters are. :)

  6. I wanted to grab this book at first, but now Idk if I'll ever get it or read it. As much as I love Twilight and it really got me into reading, I've def moved past it.

I love getting comments and appreciate every single one of them! It always brightens my day =]

This is an award free blog. I truly appreciate the thought but I simply do not have the time. Comments are an award all on their own =]
