My Thoughts:I am the first to admit to my twi-hard status and I was one of the few who was actually excited when this was announced. I even wrote an entire post defending it here. I was pretty excited that our bonus material was basically another book that would give us an interesting look into the authors writing. I was also really excited for a strong female vampire to take center stage.
I’m really glad I finally got around to this one because I really did enjoy it. I’ll admit that it did take me a bit to adjust to the flipped characters because I know the original ones so well, but once I adjusted I was good to go. It was interesting to see how the story changes when you flip genders but how it also really stays the same. Edythe is as sulky and overprotective as Edward and Beau is still the one in danger. I also loved that Beau never once balked at a girl who was stronger than him but loved her all the more for it. The story was basically the same, with one pretty big twist, but I enjoyed Twilight so I enjoyed reliving it in a different way.
Life and Death isn’t a book for everyone. It’s really meant as a fun extra for Twilight fans who want to see the story that could have been. It’s not cannon and its doesn’t add anything to the Twilight world we know but it was fun nonetheless. I’m glad I made time for this one.
