About THE PROBLEM WITH FOREVER:From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes a riveting new story about friendship, survival, and finding your voice. For some people, silence is a weapon.
For Mallory “Mouse” Dodge, it’s a shield.
Growing up, she learned that the best way to survive was to say nothing. And even though it’s been four years since her nightmare ended, she’s beginning to worry that the fear that holds her back will last a lifetime.
Now, after years of homeschooling with loving adoptive parents, Mallory must face a new milestone—spending her senior year at public high school. But of all the terrifying and exhilarating scenarios she’s imagined, there’s one she never dreamed of—that she’d run into Rider Stark, the friend and protector she hasn’t seen since childhood, on her very first day.
It doesn’t take long for Mallory to realize that the connection she shared with Rider never really faded. Yet the deeper their bond grows, the more it becomes apparent that she’s not the only one grappling with lingering scars from the past. And as she watches Rider’s life spiral out of control, Mallory must make a choice between staying silent and speaking out—for the people she loves, the life she wants, and the truths that need to be heard.

My Thoughts:

There are two pretty well known facts about me: One I love everything JLA. Two, I am ridiculously picky when it comes to YA contemporary. Not that I never enjoy YA contemp, but the ones I do enjoy are rare. Basically, I prefer my contemporary to be NA or adult for whatever reason. So I was slightly worried, but then again not really because it’s JLA. I know, I even confuse myself. All of that rambling that probably didn’t make any sense aside, I loved The Problem With Forever. This was a heartbreaking read at times but it was also full of hope.

I adored both Mallory and Rider. What they went through shattered me and it breaks my heart even more because I know that while this story is fictional there are so many non-fictional versions of this story in the world. This is the kind of book that makes me very grateful for everything I had growing up and where I am now and it puts a lot into perspective. I love any book that makes the reader feel and this book makes you feel for every single character. I felt for Mallory and Rider and Ainsley and Kiera and Jayden and Hector and even Paige (didn’t agree with the way she went about things all the time but it was not easy for her).

This book is pretty different from every other JLA book I’ve read and I mean that in a good way. This one stands out. This one isn’t as romance heavy as most of her other reads. The relationship between Mallory and Rider is important and a big part of the story but more importantly the book focuses on Mallory and Rider’s relationship with themselves and accepting who they are. I loved watching these two find each other once again and everything that followed but I loved watching them come to terms with their past even more. That part of the story really touched my heart. This book just continually hit me in the feels and I loved that. Definitely brought tears to my eyes.

The Problem With Forever is another great read from JLA. Mallory and Rider’s story is one that will stay with you.

“The intensity between Mouse and Rider is palpably sizzling… romance aficionados [will] lose themselves in Mouse and Rider’s smoldering glances and steamy kisses.” -Kirkus

“Armentrout’s effort to gradually coax her protagonist from her shell via a supportive, loving community succeeds, and readers looking for an inspirational comeback story will find Mallory’s to be satisfying and hopeful” –Publishers Weekly

  7. I am excited to read this one! I have seen others talk about how different it is, for a JLA book. I'm usually not one for tough-issue YA contemporary, but I know JLA will do a wonderful job with just about anything and everything she writes.

One thing I love about myself - I love my sassiness. :D

Thank you, and WONDERFUL post, Teresa!
