The Monday Musts 3/28/2016

The Monday Musts is a weekly feature hosted by the awesome Jessica at Lovin Los Libros. This is a fun way to share a must read book, a must listen to song/album/artist, and a must see (can be anything). I'm really excited to be taking part in this feature and I'm sure it will be a ton of fun.

Must Read:
Decided to feature Chasing River this week because I adore this book and want everyone to read it.

Must Listen:
I am on a real Broadway kick lately, so this week I bring you my favorite song from the Wicked soundtrack- As Long As You're Mine. This play is phenomenal! I saw it years ago now but I am dying to go again but I am also scared. I saw the play with the original cast aka the unmatched Idina Menzel and I just don't know if anyone can measure up to her.

Must See:
This one is for all of my fellow Hamilton fans. I am featuring the movie 1776 as my must see. This is the original American musical. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly suggest you do. I mean, even Hamilton references this musical with the "Sit Down John" line. Also, Mr. Feeny plays John Adams... and now you know why it was John Adams High in Boy Meets World. I was first introduced to this when I was a kid. I saw it on Broadway during its revival run. It was the first time I saw a play with front row seats and it was a wonderful experience. Little Teresa was forever changed. I then of course fell in love with this movie so I could relive it again and again. I've always been an American history geek so it's no wonder I love this and Hamilton.

  1. Chasing River! Yes! I loved this! And I would totally listen to As Long As You're Mine, but I'm at work and I know it will make me cry. ;) Great picks!

  2. I wanted to listen to As Long as You're Mine but I'm at work too so I'll have to remember to come back for a listen. I only ever saw one show on Broadway when we were at NYC for BEA (not last year but the year before) but it was AMAZING. We saw Lion King and I laughed, I cried LOL! I wish I could see sooo many more shows. Hopefully someday ;)

  3. YOU SAW WICKED WITH IDINA AND KRISTEN? OMG. Can I just die of envy right now? Sigh. THIS IS WHY I NEED TO BE IN THE CITY WHERE IT ALL HAPPENS! Ok. Whew. I love Chasing River SO MUCH. That's my favorite book in the series! And I have not seen 1776! But I do love me some FEENY!

  6. I am a Wicked fanatic! I have only seen it once, but I loved it and have listened to the soundtrack many times. It is interesting that you recommended 1776, as Ken Howard (who played Thomas Jefferson) passed away a few days ago. It is a wonderful movie with lots of great character actors getting meaty material. I loved William Daniels as John Adams and Howard Da Silva as Ben Franklin. Have a great week.

  8. I really must make time for KA Tucker! Everyone just loves her books but I haven't gotten around to reading them yet. :/

Everyone in my household LOVES Wicked (well, maybe not my hubs so much). I've had the soundtrack since 2006, when I took my older daughter to Chicago and we saw Wicked there. I've always prided myself on the fact that my kids, including my son, walk around singing these songs. *ha* My younger daughter is a musical fanatic, so she always has some soundtrack going. And ALL my kids performed in the pit orchestra for the high school musical this year - The Addams Family...so those songs are being sung a lot. ;)

I love getting comments and appreciate every single one of them! It always brightens my day =]

This is an award free blog. I truly appreciate the thought but I simply do not have the time. Comments are an award all on their own =]
