"Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a new play by Jack Thorne, is the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. It will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on 30th July 2016

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places.."

Okay look... I am very very torn on this. On one hand, I am very happy with the way the Harry Potter series wrapped up and I am very hesitant to see the Golden Trio thrown into more drama and problems. I don't know if I want to see them in their adult lives because in my head they are all happy and everything is grand. So this "eighth book" has me worried because it could crush all of my illusions. Also, its not even a book penned by JK Rowling and that could end badly. But at the end of the day, as with all things Harry Potter, I will be reading this one and I hope and pray that it doesn't crush my hopes and dreams.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be released on July 31, 2016.
What are you waiting on?

  1. I want to read this one too. Yet, like you said it isn't penned by JK. Plus, haven't they been through enough? Can't they just be the perfect grown-ups I imagine them to be? Very torn....

  2. I'm hesitant with this one. I loved the Harry Potter books but since this isn't really her writing, I don't know how I feel about that. I'm in the same boat as you I suppose! Lol!

  3. I understand your worries and honestly, I have the same worries...BUT. I don't think JKR would have let this get published if it wasn't up to her standards so I'm choosing to have faith in that and hopefully this will deliver for ALL of us Potterheads :)

  5. Great pick! I know what you mean. I'm excited for another story, but I'm worried for what's in store for these characters in their adult lives now. I do wish I could go see the play in London though.

  7. So you pretty much stated my exact thoughts and fears. LOL. I might need to wait to hear some people's thoughts before I dive in.... I can't deny my curiosity though!

  8. Potterheads unite! Lol. Yeah, I'm with you -- I'm torn because it's not J.K. Rowling writing it, and I'm a little nervous to see what happens, too. Oh, but who am I kidding? I'm still really excited! Great pick :-)

  10. I am SO TORN on this one, too. I think I have to manage my expectations going in. Most importantly, I need to remember it's not written by J.K. Rowling and it likely won't have the same ... magic ... as the original books. But, I'm totally gonna read it anyhow. :)

I love getting comments and appreciate every single one of them! It always brightens my day =]

This is an award free blog. I truly appreciate the thought but I simply do not have the time. Comments are an award all on their own =]
