"An immortal war has been brewing in the darkness . . . And now one woman has stumbled into the shadows.
Chicago private investigator Kira Graceling should have just kept on walking. But her sense of duty refused to let her ignore the moans of pain coming from inside a warehouse just before dawn. Suddenly she finds herself in a world she's only imagined in her worst nightmares.
At the center is Mencheres, a breathtaking Master vampire who thought he'd seen it all. Then Kira appears, this fearless, beautiful . . . human who braved death to rescue him. Though he burns for her, keeping Kira in his world means risking her life. Yet sending her away is unthinkable.
But with danger closing in, Mencheres must choose either the woman he craves, or embracing the darkest magic to defeat an enemy bent on his eternal destruction."
My Thoughts:I am officially convinced that Jeaniene Frost can do no wrong. Going into this one I was worried how I would feel about Mencheres as a hero and how he would measure up to Bones and Spade. I shouldn’t have worried though because I loved Mencheres and I really like that I got to know him better.
Kira is a fantastic heroine. Jeaniene writes some of the very best heroines. Kira is strong and tough and smart and she doesn’t stay down. She is thrown so many curveballs and she takes each and every one in stride. No matter what life gives her she powers through it. I also loved how confident she was when it came to Mencheres. She wasn’t afraid to admit how she felt about him or tell him exactly how she felt. She is just so brave in so many ways.
As for Mencheres, he was a really great hero. I was slightly wary of him in the other Night Huntress books, but getting to know him in this one was awesome. He really is a great guy and I love that he doesn’t shy away from his feelings. It was so nice to see him just admit how he feels. His biggest problem was realizing that he deserved better than he thought which was so heartbreaking.
Kira and Mencheres are awesome together and I loved how they worked together and that both were willing to sacrifice for the other. I also loved seeing Cat and Bones again because I adore them. Although, it was a bit weird. At this point in time in the Night Huntress Universe Cat and Bones are not particularly thrilled with Mencheres, so it was interesting being on the other side of that and seeing Cat and Bones through eyes that get annoyed with them. And then I truly loved the twist as to what the “eternal kiss of darkness” actually is. That was so awesome.
All in all, Eternal Kiss Of Darkness is another awesome addition to the Night Huntress Universe. Honestly I don’t ever see myself getting tired of this world and I am so ready to dive into the Night Prince books now!
