"Her deadly dreams leave her in grave danger
Since half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her undead lover Bones met six years ago, they've fought against the rogue undead, battled a vengeful Master vampire, and pledged their devotion with a blood bond. Now it's time for a vacation. But their hopes for a perfect Paris holiday are dashed when Cat awakes one night in terror. She's having visions of a vampire named Gregor who's more powerful than Bones and has ties to her past that even Cat herself didn't know about.
Gregor believes Cat is his and he won't stop until he has her. As the battle begins between the vamp who haunts her nightmares and the one who holds her heart, only Cat can break Gregor's hold over her. She'll need all the power she can summon in order to bring down the baddest bloodsucker she's ever faced . . . even if getting that power will result in an early grave."
My Thoughts:This book nearly broke me. Holy hell. My heart was definitely put through the wringer in this one. This series just keeps going strong and I continue to devour it. I’ve listened to all four back to back now. I figured at some point I would have had enough and move on to something else and then come back later but I just can’t get enough of Bones and Cat.
I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, Cat is awesome. She is so fierce and sassy and strong. She never backs down and when you threaten someone she loves, she will do anything to save them. You do not want to mess with Cat.
And of course I’m still completely infatuated with Bones and I don’t see that going away anytime soon. I mean, I knew he was swoony guys but I never expected to love him like I do. It’s kinda ridiculous but I just can’t find it in myself to care. I adore him.
Now let’s discuss how this book tore my heart to shreds. There was a good portion of this book that broke me. This is the first time we really see Cat and Bones struggle. They have always had their issues but this one was bad and it hurt me. It was also the first time I got mad at both Cat and Bones. Both of them said hurtful things and made irrational decisions. But instead of me hating them for it, I actually came to love them more. It fleshed out their flaws and showed that they really need to work for this relationship. They love each other but they still need to work at it and I liked that. I also think the trials in this one made them stronger and I’d love to see someone try to tear them apart now.
Once again the secondary cast of characters is great and I love them. I look forward to reading all of the spin offs one day and getting to know these lovable characters even better. There was one character we had to say goodbye to in this book and I’m very distraught over this.
I also want to take a second to comment on how awesome the narrator is. Tavia has done a phenomenal job with these books.
All in all, Destined For An Early Grave was another awesome read. On to the next book I go.
