"Armed with two years' worth of savings and the need to experience life outside the bubble of her Oregon small town, twenty-five-year old Amber Welles is prepared for anything. Except dying in Dublin. Had it not been for the bravery of a stranger, she might have. But he takes off before she has the chance to offer her gratitude.

Twenty-four-year-old River Delaney is rattled. No one was supposed to get hurt. But then that American tourist showed up. He couldn't let her die, but he also couldn't risk being identified at the scene—so, he ran. Back to his everyday life of running his family’s pub. Only, everyday life is getting more and more complicated, thanks to his brother, Aengus, and his criminal associations. When the American girl tracks River down, he quickly realizes how much he likes her, how wrong she is for him. And how dangerous it is to have her around. Chasing her off would be the smart move.

Maybe it's because he saved her life, or maybe it's because he's completely different from everything she's left behind, but Amber finds herself chasing after River Delaney. Amber isn’t the kind of girl to chase after anyone.

And River isn't the kind of guy she'd want to catch."

My Thoughts:

Oh man… I loved this book hard. When I read Burying Water, I fell in love with the characters and the way the story was told… but then I read Chasing River and well this easily became my new favorite of the series. Every single element of this story worked for me. From the location to the writing to the characters, I was hooked.

I was so nervous about Amber going into this one. I just was not her biggest fan in Burying Water. She just grated on my nerves and the way she viewed things drove me nuts, but once I got her story and got inside her head, I loved her. She is so brave taking this trip and I’m not gonna lie, she was sensible and I could really relate to the sensible side of her. She grew up so much over the course of the book and I loved watching her find herself.

Then we have River and I fell so hard for River! He was amazing and I loved him. He was so charming and sweet and a genuinely good guy. He is fiercely loyal to his family and he doesn’t hesitate to do the right thing or put himself in danger for others. I have so much I want to say, but at the same time I don’t know how to say it. I can’t even pinpoint exactly why I fell so hard for River; I just think it was everything about him. Whatever it was, he is my new favorite and I loved him and I want a River.

A big draw for me with Chasing River was the Ireland aspect. I want to go there in the worst way and I truly hope I get there someday. Honestly, there is no other place on this Earth I want to visit more than I want to visit Ireland. The history and the land and everything just pull me in. There are so many things I want to see and do and I loved that I was able to visit Ireland through the pages of this book for a while. I also loved Amber’s bucket list for her trip around the world. That was a great addition to the story and I loved a certain addition to the list.

I also fell hard for the secondary characters. It was so wonderful getting little glimpses of Alex and Jesse once again, and the mentions of Luke were nice too, especially knowing how everything turns out for him. And I came to love Ivy and cannot wait for her book! Surviving Ice is going to be great! But the character who stole the show for me was River’s brother Rowen! I adored him to bits and pieces and I want him to have a book in the worst way! Please make this happen! *gets down on knees and begs*

Chasing River was a great read and I know I’ll be thinking about River and Amber for days to come. This is definitely one I can see myself re-reading again and again.

  1. I loved this one so much too, so it makes me really happy to see other readers enjoying it as well. Amber was definitely different from book 1. And yes! River was so swoony. I was also fascinated by the Irish elements of the book. It made me want to visit Ireland!
Ahh! I love Ivy so much and I can't wait to read her book!
    Great review, Teresa!

  2. I need to grab the first two books...

  3. My daughter just read Burying Water and is going crazy on and on about it. Now you and this book three? I need to read this series.

  4. I fell pretty hard for River as well

  5. Gosh, this series is just awesome and this one sounds like it's wonderful! I'm glad to read that Amber was a whole new character in this one and that you fell for her! And I cannot wait to meet River!! OH MY GOSH!

Lovely review! You have me excited for this one :)

  6. I feel the same way you do about this book girl! When I finished it, I was beyond sad because I didn't want to leave those two or Ireland! I love Ireland so much and I want to go spend more than a day there in the future! River was amazing but so was Rowen. I was not ashamed to beg K.A. on Twitter for his story. LOL. Not as many people LOVED this one like we did, which makes me a little sad because I think Amber and River were my favorite couple!

  7. OMG, Teresa, this sounds SO freaking GOOD!! Your lively, detailed review has made me want this book right NOW. I love River already! I had never heard ot this series before, but now I just have to HAVE it.

Thanks so much for featuring this! Heading over to Goodreads now to add it to my overflowing TBR. Lol.

  8. I got this series in audio and can't wait to listen to it. Everyone is loving it. And yes, I seriously wanna visit Ireland as well. Such a beautiful place!
