"Abby Erickson isn't looking for a one-night stand, a relationship, or anything that involves any one-on-one time, but when she witnesses a shocking crime, she's thrust into the hands of the sexiest man she's ever seen - Colton Anders. His job is to protect her, but with every look, every touch, and every simmering kiss, she's in danger of not only losing her life but her heart also."

My Thoughts:

Everyone knows JLA is my favorite author, so it was kinda guaranteed that I would love this one and I did. Everyone has that author that their books just always seem to be a hit for them and JLA is that author for me. Her writing just pulls me in and I always love her books.

My favorite thing about Dream Of You was Abby. I related to Abby in so many ways and I loved that she was realistic. First off, her love of books will be relatable for any avid reader and this book has one of the best bookish quotes ever. I have re-read this quote so many times it’s not even funny. I want to have it monogrammed on everything. But other than that, I just liked her. She has self-confidence issues, but she tries so hard to fight them but she doesn’t always win and I so so got this. I really like how this was presented because it is so common. Every woman feels like this at one point and I really liked the way this was handled.

Of course Colton was incredibly swoony and he was such a great guy. He is an adult and he knows what he wants and he isn’t looking to mess around. He really is a good man and he was perfect for Abby. I love how he liked her for who she was. He liked her and her quirks and she didn’t have to pretend with him. It was really sweet and their chemistry was intense.

I also liked the suspense angle and thought it fit in nicely considering Colton’s career. I really like the way JLA subtly weaved in the suspense element and how it affected the characters. The way they were reunited may have sucked, but something good came out of it and I think they both deserved something good.

Dream Of You was a good read and fans of this series will want to check it out. There were some cameos from our favorite characters, which is always fun and this was another good addition. I am really glad we got Colton’s story.

Dream of You - Teaser 2

The look on his face said he wasn’t so sure of that. “He followed you to your house and he hit you with a gun. You could’ve died, Abby. I—”

“Colton,” I tried again. “I’m serious. It wasn’t your fault. Okay? And you didn’t have to come over here to check on me. I’m okay. You’ve… you’ve done enough. You got your brother and Roxy to take me home and—”

“I’ve done enough? Obviously, I haven’t done enough.” His gaze found its way back to mine. “I need to make a couple of things clear. When you left Mona’s last night, you were upset. I get that. You just saw me walk out with Nicole and you left before I could say a single thing to you. Don’t pretend like you didn’t see that.”

“Okay. You, um, seemed busy.” I swallowed, taking a step back. “So that…that’s your ex-fiancĂ©e? She’s gorgeous.”

“Yeah, she is.” His brows knitted as he stared down at me. “You know, I was hoping I would hear from you. I figured after Sunday, I was going to leave the ball in your court.”
He had? Had he given that message through man code? I wasn’t good at reading man code.

“Obviously, you need to work through some issues and I was hoping that you would let me help you with that,” he continued. “I’m impatient though. I was planning on calling you last night, but my brother does this thing every week at his place—game night. It’s stupid, but fun. I thought I’d swing by his place for about an hour and then call you.”

I didn’t know what to say about any of that, but I wasn’t going to stand here like I was mute. I had a voice and I was going to use it. “But you were at Mona’s, with Nicole.”

“I was,” he said, a muscle flexing along his jaw. “I met her there on the way to Reece’s. When we broke up, there was a watch that my grandfather had given me before he passed away. One night at her place, I had taken it off and I never found it after that. Nicole finally found it.” Lowering his one hand to the pocket of his denim jeans, he fished out a gold watch that looked like it cost a pretty penny. “She wanted to talk. That’s why we were in Jax’s office.”

I stared at the watch and then watched him place it back in his pocket. Part of me felt like an idiot, but how would anyone really react in this situation?

  1. Lovely review!

I love the sound of how the suspense is woven into this story! JLA always pulls me in as well and takes me away with her story telling! So I know I'm really going to enjoy this one as well. OH! And that excerpt! <3

  2. Of course, you know I feel the same. This book! So perfect for me. She is my fav author too and when I NEED something I know will work - she's the one I turn to as well! Great review.

  3. Hmm, for some reason, I thought this was part of an anthology... and I passed on it.

  4. Sold! I'd read this even if I don't know some of the characters. it just sounds like it's a good JAL sampler to me.

  5. This was def one of my faves of hers and the series. I really liked Abby and Colton. What quote were you talking about in particular?

    1. Its the one where Abby is describing why she loves books... such a fantastic quote!

I love getting comments and appreciate every single one of them! It always brightens my day =]

This is an award free blog. I truly appreciate the thought but I simply do not have the time. Comments are an award all on their own =]
