Source: I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
"From the author of All of You and Before You Break comes a new Between Breaths male/male standalone romance about the silent, inked up skateboarder and the tattoo artist who unravels him piece by piece…

Tattoo artist Cory Easton has worked long enough at Raw Ink to know, just by looking at a dude, what his body art reveals, what makes him tick, what even makes him scared. Until he meets the quiet and remote Jude York—so unreadable, so unreachable, and so unlike anyone else, he can’t help but arouse Cory’s curiosity.

As captivating and complex as his ink, Jude is a mystery—and Cory’s falling fast and hard under his spell. Against his better judgment to steer clear.

The rumors of Jude’s past overshadow him—whispers of prison and an unmentionable secret that’s kept him in the protective shadows of a local motorcycle club. As Cory probes deeper, he wonders how much he really wants to know. Especially since Jude has awakened something inside him that has been buried too long—and has him feeling completely alive for the first time in forever…"

My Thoughts:

Christina Lee knows how to do New Adult, it is that simple. This series is easily one of my all-time favorite New Adult series and each and every book is a win for me. There You Stand was no exception. I was hooked from beginning to end and I read this book in one sitting. This book was made to be devoured.

I am so glad Cory got his own story! There is so much more to Cory than meets the eye. Cory has had a bit of a rough past and my heart really broke for him. I wanted to crawl inside the book and give him a hug. I loved Cory. I loved how he talked a mile a minute, I loved that he volunteered at an animal shelter, I loved that he wore a beanie, I loved how passionate he was, I loved watching him help out his Grandma, I loved how dedicated he was to his job, I just love love loved!

Then we had Jude. It took me a bit longer to get a handle on Jude, which makes sense because it takes Cory some time too, but once I did I loved him too. Jude is a man of few words, which is probably part of why he compliments Cory so nicely. But Jude is the way he is for many many reasons and well I was honestly shocked by them. I really loved pulling his layers back. And then Jude and Cory together made my heart all sappy. I loved them.

As I said before, Christina Lee knows how to write New Adult. Her stories are always the perfect balance of romance and drama and I’m always addicted to the story. I can never seem to put her books down.

There You Stand was another wonderful addition to the Between Breaths series. Cory and Jude had a great story to tell. It nearly broke my heart in parts, but it also turned me into a sappy swoony mess. Not one to be missed!

  1. Cory sounds absolutely swoon-worthy, Teresa. And I think I'd like to peel back Jude's layers, too. :) I haven't read Lee yet but I'm thinking I'm missing out on some greatness. Wonderful review!
