Book Review: Hell's Ink (Forever Inked #2) by: Nicole Reed

Release Date: January 20, 2015
Goodreads | Amazon
Source: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
"In this Brotherhood you live or die by the three-piece patch. For Hold Dawson, Vice-President of the Hells Highwaymen Motorcycle Club, it’s not just black ink tattooed on his body, but the religion he worships, and the law that governs his life. Nothing else matters. Family by choice and not by blood. More sacred than a shared name. Bound by respect. Loyal to death.

Unity. Respect.
Love. Devotion.
Forever.

But there’s another side to this life. One the President, Hold’s own father, lives and regulates by.

Merciless. Wrathful.
Murderous. Dishonest.
Lethal.

It’s blood in and blood out and only one man gets to be king.

Warning: This book is not suitable for children under the age of seventeen due to language, sexual content, and intense subject matter."

My Thoughts:

Beautiful Ink was one of my favorite reads last year, so of course I was really looking forward to Hell’s Ink. I really enjoyed getting back to this world and I really liked the different perspective we got this time around. In Beautiful Ink we saw this world through Hels eyes and Hels was not happy there. But now we get to see if from Hold’s perspective and it is a completely different experience.

I’m not going to lie, I was nervous about getting Hold’s book. I wasn’t his biggest fan in Beautiful Ink. I liked him, but a lot of what he did just didn’t sit well with me. In Hell’s Ink though, we get to see what is going on inside his head and he really won me over. Hold has really grown up and he has decided what he wants and nothing is going to stop him from getting it. I loved that determination and I loved watching him grow up.

Then we have Shayla and I liked this girl a lot. She hasn’t had it easy, but she doesn’t let that stop her. I loved her quiet strength and I loved that she accepted Hold for who he is, no reservations. The only character I really struggled with was Mikey and I felt so bad about it. I mean, he is a good guy and he deserves to find happiness, but he got on my nerves at times. I like him but he drove me bonkers a bit. I also really loved getting a little bit more Luke and Hels again. Love those two.

My favorite thing about Hell’s Ink though was all of the MC drama and politics. There was so much going on and it was so hard to know who to trust. I loved watching the drama unfold. For me, this was the main focus of the story, and it surprised me that this was my favorite aspect. We all know I love my romance, but with this I found myself more invested in the other stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the romance, but I loved the politics and drama even more. I found myself racing through the romance to get to the MC stuff. It surprised me and I loved that.

Nicole once again delivered a really enjoyable story. Hell’s Ink was gritty and dark, but there was some light in the dark and I really liked that. This is a series you don’t want to miss.

  1. Interesting. Haven't heard of this series at all, but you know I love it when a romance book is about so much more than the romance. Great review!

  2. An MC book? I'll pass. Glad you liked it though esp as you weren't a big Hold fan in the beginning.

  4. Ooh I really want to read this series! I remember you enjoying Beautiful Ink and I am definitely interested in the MC world. This sounds a bit like a redemption book too (in that you didn't like him much previously). I'm always up for character growth/development in companions!

  6. I've wanted to read this series because I loved Nicole's Ruin Me series. Alas, I haven't had time. *sigh* I'm glad that Hold won you over, Teresa. And I'll move this series up in the queue. :)

  7. Fantastic review, Wifey! I am beyond excited to start this series. Ever since I binge-watched Sons of Anarchy on Netflix, I've been intrigued by the MC world. I love that you raced through the romance to get to the MC drama -- that would be me, too! It's just so engrossing!! I love that Hold's character growth won you over in the end, and I cannot wait to meet these characters! Awesome, awesome review! *fist bumps and motorcyle manly hugs*
