Source: I received a copy of this book from the publisher via edelweiss in exchange for a fair and honest review.
"From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Wait for You and Be with Me comes a daring tale that pushes boundaries . . .

At 21, Calla hasn't done a lot of things. She’s never been kissed, never seen the ocean, never gone to an amusement park. But growing up, she witnessed some things no child ever should.   She still carries the physical and emotional scars of living with a strung-out mother, Mona—secrets she keeps from everyone, including her close circle of college friends.

But the safe cocoon Calla has carefully built is shattered when she discovers her mom has stolen her college money and run up a huge credit card debt in her name. Now, Calla has to go back to the small town she thought she’d left behind and clean up her mom’s mess again. Of course, when she arrives at her mother’s bar, Mona is nowhere to be found. Instead, six feet of hotness named Jackson James is pouring drinks and keeping the place humming.

Sexy and intense, Jax is in Calla’s business from the moment they meet, giving her a job and helping her search for Mona. And the way he looks at her makes it clear he wants to get horizontal . . . and maybe something more. Before Calla can let him get close, though, she’s got to deal with the pain of the past—and some very bad guys out to mess her up if she doesn't give them her mom."

My Thoughts:

So I’m not entirely sure where I want to begin with Stay With Me. I just have all of these thoughts and feels bouncing around in my head and they are all fighting to be heard, so I can’t really promise a coherent review. In short though, I absolutely loved Stay With Me. I love this series and we all know I love all things JLA, but this book definitely ranks up with some of my very favorite JLA reads and this is a very very close second to Wait For You as far as this series goes.

I guess I’ll start with Calla. I really loved Calla. That poor sweet girl. I wish I could reach through the book and hug her and make all her problems go away. She is so much stronger than I think anyone could have guessed. She has had a very rough upbringing and those events have made her the girl she is today. She is very insecure and just wants to stay in the background. So it’s completely understandable why she has a hard time believing that anyone could be interested in her and damn the girl fights it, but it makes sense.

Jax is pretty much all the great things about Jase and Cam combined into one deliciously swoony guy. He puts a lot of other book boyfriends to shame. Jax just tells it like it is and you always know what he is thinking. There is no second guessing when it comes to him, not for the reader at least, Calla on the other hand…. but like I said it makes sense. He sees Calla for the wonderful person she is and he treats her like gold. He knows just how to be with her and push past her insecurities. He is patient and kind and doesn’t let Calla think less of herself. Jax is also simply a nice guy and there are not enough nice guys.

Jax and Calla are so good together. They have great chemistry, but they also just get each other. They understand each other in ways other people just can’t get. Jax can see Calla for who she really is and he always seems to know exactly what she is thinking. This is good, as Calla tends to overthink.

Stay With Me also had a great cast of secondary characters. Some old and some new. One new character I took a particular liking to was Katie. That girl is simply hysterical. She stole every single scene she was in. I kid you not. And of course I absolutely loved checking in on Cam, Avery, Jase, and Teresa again. They all hold a special place in my heart. I truly loved that Calla referred to them as the Hot Guy Brigade and I completely agree with Calla: Cam and Avery are the most adorable couple in coupledom. Hands down. Oh and we also briefly got to see Ollie and Brit and naturally Ollie brought the turtles out to party, so that was fun. And Stay With Me had one of my favorite cameos from one of her other books ever. I kid you not, I squealed and flailed.

As always, Jennifer not only delivers a steamy romance you root for and get invested in, but she also gives you a wonderful story outside of that. Calla has come home to a world of trouble and it’s not the kind of trouble that goes away easily. The mess her Mom has gotten her into is bad, really bad, and I never knew what to expect next. I was constantly on edge between the relationship drama and the life threatening situations that I just kept flipping pages.

Stay With Me is another hit for JLA. Jax and Calla deliver the swoon and banter we all love and the writing is witty and engaging. Jax and Calla give Cam and Avery a run for their money.
