Book Review: Opposition (Lux #5) by: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Release Date: August 5, 2014
from Entangled Teen
Goodreads | Amazon

"Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

She can't believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.

They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing."

My Thoughts:

*sigh* I really cannot believe that this series is over. This series holds a special place in my heart and I cannot believe that it has finally come to an end. I could not have asked for a better conclusion to the series; it gave me everything I wanted and more.

Katy is such a wonderful heroine. I love how she is super awesome and kickass but also relatable and believable. She is fierce and tough and is capable of handling herself, but she is still human and reacts to situations believably. I love how she has evolved over the course of the series and how she really just came into her own. I love Katy for her toughness and strength and her compassion and also her love of books.

Then there is Daemon and everyone knows I absolutely adore Daemon. He is another one who has come a very long way over the course of the series. He is still his arrogant and witty self, but he has also matured. He is willing to do anything to protect those he loves and he proves that over and over again. I love how sweet he is, but I love that he is still sarcastic. I think it’s the sarcasm that does me in.

Katy and Daemon as a couple are just fantastic and they are seriously one of my favorite YA couples. I love how strong their relationship is. I also love that once they decided they were together that was it, they were together. They don’t doubt each other or go back and forth with unnecessary drama; they are a support for one another and fight side by side. I love how Daemon wants to protect Kat but at the end of the day he knows she is strong and capable of taking care of herself and honestly he enjoys watching her use her claws. I love that they stand on equal footing.

One of my favorite things about Opposition was that I got to see Hunter again. I didn’t realize how much I loved him and missed him until I came across him again and let out a little squeal. It was nice catching up with him and all his sexiness again. I also liked getting to know Archer better and he really became one of my favorite secondary characters during this book. Dee kind of annoyed me in this one, granted not completely her fault, but still didn’t stop my aggravation.

Opposition brought everything that has been building for four books to a crazy climax and delivered in so many ways. I always think I have an idea of where the story is going to go but then I’m always wrong. This series never ceases to surprise me. I think one thing and then another even more awesome thing happens. It just blows my mind.

This would not be a Lux review if I didn’t take some time to mention the bookishness. I will forever love that Katy is a book blogger and although as the series went on it became less prominent, I still loved that Katy still loved her books and missed them when the world fell apart. I loved the Harry Potter references, especially because they came during some crazy times. This is just something I truly love about the series and Katy and what makes her so relatable for us book lovers.

All in all, Opposition was a wonderful conclusion to the series. Daemon and Katy will forever hold a special place in my heart and I know I will enjoy visiting them time and time again.

  5. Why? Why does this series have to end?!? I'm so happy that you love how everything wrapped up, Teresa. Of course, I figured JLA wouldn't let us down. :) I can't wait to read this one - even if I'm putting it off because I don't want it to end!

  6. I got book 1 coz it went for FREE and I am looking forward to giving it a shot soon. I don't like aliens but I'm keeping an open mind for this one.

This is an award free blog. I truly appreciate the thought but I simply do not have the time. Comments are an award all on their own =]
