Blog Tour: Ugly Love by: Colleen Hoover (Review)

Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover.

Release Date: August 5, 2014
from Atria Books
Goodreads | Amazon
Source: I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
"When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even
go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly."

My Thoughts:

Colleen Hoover does it again. She always creates a story that gets under your skin and hits you right in the heart. Ugly Love was no exception. Miles and Tate have a very intense story to be told and only Colleen Hoover could do it justice.

The thing that stood out to me the most with Ugly Love was the writing. It was gorgeous. We alternate between the past and the present. Through Tate we get the present and the unfolding relationship between Tate and Miles. Through Miles we get his past and his past is extremely important. Through his past we slowly unravel all the things that made Miles the person he is today. Also his chapters were gorgeous. The writing in his chapters was just so lyrical and beautiful and I could not get enough of them. This was the perfect way to tell the story so the reader could fully experience all of the emotions.

Miles and Tate do not have a typical hearts and rose’s relationship. It really is ugly and has more downs than it does ups, but at the same time you know that it could be beautiful if the characters could just let their walls crumble, so you sit there rooting for it. I hated the way Miles acted at times and I hated how Tate put up with it, but I can’t deny that I wanted them to work it out in the worst way possible.

I’m not going to lie though, I liked Ugly Love and I liked it a lot, but for me I still love Slammed and Hopeless a lot more. Also because I could see the heartbreak coming a mile away, when it happened I wasn’t shattered. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t know how the heartbreak would happen but I knew it would. So when it did, I just wasn’t as broken as I expected to be. It was almost a relief to finally get there. Which probably sounds really weird, but I don’t know how else to explain it.

All in all though, Ugly Love is a read Colleen Hoover fans should not miss. The writing is gorgeous and the story will engulf you. It’s beautiful and ugly and it's love.

    1. I wouldn't say you are wrong. I mean CoHo definitely makes the story her own and it feels different but there are some elements that I'm sure everyone has seen before. Its deff worth the read when you work up to it =]

  3. Great review, love! I think it's going to be challenging to love a character as much as we love Will and Holder, but I'm definitely intrigued and look forward to the amazing writing that CoHo gives us. Loved hearing your thoughts on this book that's getting so much attention right now. *smoooooooosh*

  5. I'm scared to read her because I can tell her books are very touching and I like my walls up LOL. Someday when I know she can't get through to me, then I'll read her.
