Release Date: May 6, 2014 from Harper TEEN

"Dragged on a family trip to Europe’s ancient cities, Becca wants nothing more than to go home. Trapped with her emotionally distant father, over-eager stepmother, and a brother who only wants to hook up with European hotties, Becca is miserable. That is until she meets Nikolai, a guy as mysterious as he is handsome. And she unknowingly finds herself with a runaway prince.

Nikolai has everything a guy could ask for-he's crown prince, heir to the throne, and girls adore him. But the one thing he doesn't have...is freedom. Staging a coup, he flees his kingdom and goes undercover on his own European tour.

When Nikolai and Becca meet, it’s their differences that draw them together. Sparks fly as they share a whirlwind of adventures, all the while dodging his royal guard. But Becca's family vacation ends in a matter of days. Will Nikolai and Becca be forced to say goodbye forever, will his destiny catch up to him, or will they change history forever?"

My Thoughts:

This book was simply adorable. There is no other way to describe it. From beginning to end, it is just the cutest thing. I had so much fun reading this one. It took me back to my childhood when I adored The Prince and Me and The Princess Diaries and those fun movies.

Becca and Nikolai were so much fun to watch together. Becca is quirky and fun and just a teen. I liked her a lot. There wasn’t anything about her that was remarkable and that is what I loved. Any teen could relate to her, which really stressed the whole whirlwind fall in love with a prince thing. It really made the reader connect with the concept that “hey the prince likes Becca, he could like me too.” Speaking of the prince, Nikolai is just as swoony as you would expect him to be. But again, he wasn’t over the top. He was sweet and charming, but at the base of it a normal guy, with you know some royal blood in there, no biggie. I liked their interactions together and it was fun seeing them travel across Europe.

This book is perfect for when you need something light and fluffy. It is not a book to take seriously and it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It is simply meant to be a good time. Becca and Nikolai get into all sorts of shenanigans that make you shake your head and chuckle. It’s also one of the sweetest books ever. If a lollipop were a book, it would be this book. The amount of times I happy sighed and said aww is ridiculous. It’s every teenage girl’s fantasy and exactly how you dream a trip to Europe would go. I mean, seriously, go to Europe and fall in love with a prince? Sign me up for that!

With all that being said, this is the kind of book you need to suspend belief for. You can’t go in questioning everything, because then you are not going to enjoy it. The situations are kinda far-fetched and really this is not going to ever happen. So you cannot go into the story with that mind frame. It’s not meant to be that kind of read. Also, you just have to go with the flow. Yes, Becca and Nikolai fell in love within a matter of days and yes that love is clearly everlasting: do not question! It’s a fairy tale and needs to be treated as such. Things that would bother me in most other books didn’t bother me in this one because I just took it for what it was: fun.

Royally Lost was a sweet read and exactly what I needed at the time. My inner pre-teen came out singing and dancing while I read this book and she had a great time with it. It’s light, fun, romantic, and just something that will make you believe in fairy takes again, at least for a little while.

  11. I thought it was pretty cute too. A bit juvenile for my tastes, but still really cute and fun. I totally agree about it being read just for what it is and not trying to find the deeper meaning in it. Just read it and let it ride! :)
