"Rock star River Wilde brought Dahlia London back from the brink of hopelessness with his unwavering love and devotion. But their entangled history is about to test the strength of their relationship…

Dahlia was certain she had found true love and met her 'Once in a Lifetime’ when she reconnected with River. But Dahlia’s world comes crashing down when someone from her past resurfaces, and all of River’s carefully hidden secrets are exposed.

River wants to show Dahlia that life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass—it’s about dancing in the rain. But how many times can one broken heart be mended? Will River and Dahlia be able to stay together or will they be torn apart?"

My Thoughts:

First things first, there is no way I can review Torn without spoiling Connected, because the things that happen in Connected are what drive Torn. The ending to Connected is a shocker and that shocker shaped Torn in so many ways, but not in the way I was expecting at all. Torn was a great read and so much more than I expected.

Poor Dahlia just cannot catch a break. It seems as if heartbreak follows her around. Just when she thinks she has found her happily ever after with River, her past comes barging in. Ben is back and he is determined to pick up where they left off. Naturally this rocks Dahlia’s whole world. I mean your dead ex-fiancĂ© showing up would cause some heartbreak and tension with your current fiancĂ©. I really felt for her, but I loved her she never wavered from her decisions. Once she made her decision, that was it. I was surprised to see that Ben’s reappearance did not go the exact route I was expecting, but I am happy with the way it went.

River. My poor River. I loved him from the beginning and my heart just broke for him. I could completely see where he was coming from the entire book. Of course, Ben’s reappearance is going to make him insecure and of course he isn’t going to be happy when Dahlia goes to talk to him. It’s natural for him to have some doubts. And while I don’t agree with him for withholding information, I also see why he did what he did. It is so clear how much he truly loves and adores Dahlia and he really is perfect for her. But is that enough with all those secrets?

Now for Ben. I have so much to rant about Ben. I dislike him immensely. I have from the moment we met him. I’m not sure what it was, but there was always something about him that never sat well with me. So I was never a Ben fan and not entirely pleased with him coming back. However, I also want to pride myself on totally guessing the other secret that surrounded him. I knew it! I am very interested to read his upcoming book though and see if my opinion on him can be changed, because right now I want to punch him.

Torn is a very emotional read, maybe even more so than Connected was. It felt like my heart was being put through the ringer the entire time. It just broke my heart to see River and Dahlia struggling as a couple. Especially because you know how much they love each other and just needed to learn to communicate better. Then there was the other twist at the end that crushed my soul. Just simply put; this book hurts in the best way possible.

Torn was a truly addictive read and I absolutely loved it. From beginning to end, I was hooked and invested in the characters. The ending was absolutely perfect and sweet and made my heart melt. A great great read.

  1. I've seen so many positive review for this series! I always find it interesting when a secondary character you haven't liked gets their own book. Sometimes they completely win me over and other times I just can't get over all the reasons why I hated them in the first place lol. It will be interesting if the author can make you fall for Ben :)

  6. I only skimmed since you gave us fair warning about spoilers, but that last amazing paragraph sealed the deal -- I MUST start this series. I can't wait to meet River! *smoosh*

  7. Excellent Review Teresa!!! I loved Torn too, and River is one of my fav. book boyfriends. This book was very emotional for me as well, and I understood why River would get insecure, considering the situation! I HATE Ben too! Ugh! I am looking forward to his story as well. It will be hard to like him, and I want to see if my opinion of him can be changed too!

  11. Wow, this one sounds pretty cool. Altho I can get pretty upset at a "ex-lover returning" theme, as long as its done right, I'll enjoy it and it sounds like it's good here. I'll have to give this a try. Great review!

    1. Yeah, this time the ex lover returning theme is done very differently and doesn't affect the story they way you think it would =]

This is an award free blog. I truly appreciate the thought but I simply do not have the time. Comments are an award all on their own =]
