"What if a "Once in a Lifetime” could happen twice?

In Dahlia London’s world, happily ever after is a far cry from reality. Her soul has been left completely shattered by tragedy. But a surprising reunion with someone from her past is about to give her a reason to love again…

When rock star River Wilde comes back into Dahlia’s life, their super-charged connection runs deeper than either of them ever expected. The more time they spend together, the more intense their relationship becomes, and Dahlia believes at last she has found her soul mate.

But as old bonds fade and Dahlia’s grief begins to lift, her guilt and confusion remain. River desperately wants to be the one who mends what’s been broken—but with a past that refuses to stay buried, is it possible for their future to begin?"

My Thoughts:

Everyone warned me that this is an emotional book, but no warning can really prepare you for this book. It is the kind of book that makes your heart hurt. Every time you think you know where the story is going you end up completely blindsided by what actually happens. There were a couple of times when I thought I had the story line pegged but then it turned out I was wrong (although there is one thing I still think I’m right about that will come into play in Torn).

I think the best thing about the story is the characters. Both of them are so well developed and they feel so real. It is so easy to connect to them and get invested in them. I adore Dahlia (I also love her name). My heart broke for this girl and all the tragedy that has touched her life. It is a testament to her strength that she is able to be the bright and vibrant girl even after all of the darkness she has dealt with.

Then we have River and I fell so hard for River. His name is oh so sexy and he lives up to that sexy name. He is adorable and charming and talented and just oh so swoony. He is just a wonderful guy and he wants to help Dahlia any way he can. He clearly adores her and is willing to do anything for her. That kind of devotion is hard not to fall for. It’s clear he is keeping a secret, and I think I know what it is, and I am not happy he is keeping it. However, if I’m right in my guess I completely understand why he feels the need to keep it.

The chemistry between River and Dahlia just oozes off the pages. It is so steamy and swoony and just oh my gosh wonderful. Now I will say this, their relationship is very insta love and I just wanted to mention this because I know some people hate this. I’m not one of them; as long as you can make me believe it I am perfectly okay with it and this one definitely made me believe it. I could see the immediate connection and more importantly I could feel it.

The story moves along at a pretty good pace. I was going along, enjoying the ride, happy in my little world watching River and Dahlia fall more and more in love… and then I read the epilogue. How can the book just end there?!?!?! I wanted to smash something. I actually threw a temper tantrum. Such a mean mean cliffhanger and I know there is heartache to come in the next book and I don’t know how my heart is going to handle it.

Connected is an emotional read and one that will make you smile and then smash your heart into bits. It is a great read and one that leaves you dying to pick up the sequel.

  1. I haven't heard of this book but it does sound really interesting. It might not be the best read for me but I'm so glad you enjoyed. Great review, Teresa :)

  2. Ooooo, I remember all the River squees when you were reading this one! You have me really excited for this story. Bring on the heartache -- I'm ready! Great review, Wifey! This book sounds amazing! <3

  3. I think that I would love the characters especially since they are so well developed they feel real

  4. I loove emotional books! Yes, even when they make my heart hurt! I have this one, and I need to read it! Like as soon as possible. River also sounds just mmmmm! Great review! I have to move this one up on my list!!

  5. I always want to think of insta-love as instant chemistry that turns to love. Usually if that's the sell then I'm good with it. I am concerned with reading this one only because I'm not sure I'm up for the emotional read. Maybe later though. Sounds really good.

  6. I really enjoyed this one too! Much more than I thought I would. Can't wait to read Torn!

  7. Connected is one of my favorite contemporary reads. I loved how the twist at the end completely caught me off guard! I agree, this story was really emotional, and the cliffhanger just about killed me, but at least Torn is out, so you can just jump right in. Great Review Teresa :)

  9. I've always wanted to pick up this book, Teresa. I'm glad you warned me of the cliffhanger. My temper tantrums can get ugly. ;) Although it sounds as though I might do some ugly crying over this one. Lovely review, my dear. I'm glad Karr made you love Dahlia and River so much...I'm sure it helped a wee bit at the end. :)
