Top Ten of 2013: Best Books I've Read In 2013

Welcome to day one of the Top 10 of 2013 event hosted by Two Chicks On BooksFiktshun, and Magical Urban Fantasy Reads! Today we get to feature our favorite books we read in 2013, and well this was an extremely hard list to put together. Like last year, I decided not to feature an author more than once. Also there is no particular order here.

Teresa's Picks:

Clockwork Princess by: Cassandra Clare: So this is, hands down, my very favorite read of the year. It is easily my favorite conclusion to a series ever and I simply loved every single second of this book. I cried pretty much the whole way through the book, but I wouldn't have changed a single thing.

Cruel Beauty by: Rosamund Hodge: Sooooo yeah.... this book... I have so much friggin love for it. Normally I wouldn't feature a 2014 book on this list, but I could not help myself. Next to Clockwork Princess this is my favorite book of the year. It was just such a beautiful story, with a great romance and fairy tale twist and I just want to hug this book!

This Girl by: Colleen Hoover: I went back and forth for a while on whether I wanted to pick this book or Losing Hope, because I seriously loved them both. But at the end of the day Will Cooper holds my heart. I loved getting to see what was going on inside Will's head during Slammed. It was beautiful!

Origin by: Jennifer L. Armentrout: JLA is the reason I try to limit myself to one book per author because really, I could just make this list full of all her books. Choosing between all of her books was torture. I just love them all! But at the end of the day, the Lux series will always hold a special place in my heart and Origin was EPIC! Daemon and Katy are the best! This series is seriously awesome.

Near & Far by: Nicole Williams: This year I had the pleasure to meet Jesse Walker and I fell hard for him. This story was so good and it was so different from a lot of the other New Adult books out there. I have never wanted to move to Montana so badly in my life as I did after reading this series.

With All My Soul by: Rachel Vincent: *sobs* another series I had to say goodbye to! This was a fantastic ending! It made me cry like a little baby, but it was perfect. I can't imagine a better way for this series to come to a close.

Allegiant by: Veronica Roth: My heart still hurts thinking about this book. Gahh I have never been ripped apart by an ending as much I was by this one. But if an author can do that to me, then I really cared about her characters and that is something special. I really did love this book and I was so sad to say goodbye to this series.

Down London Road by: Samantha Young: I never thought I would love Jo as much as I did, but I really felt for her. This was a beautiful story and I fell hard for Cam. Samantha Young created a wonderful story with Jo and Cam.

The Evolution of Mara Dyer by: Michelle Hodkin: Noah Shaw!!! This story is so twisted and I'm confused most of the time, but I still love it. I'm still not entirely sure if it is paranormal or all psychological but that is what makes it awesome.

Incarnate by: Jodi Meadows: This was one of the sweetest books ever and I just loved it. It put a smile on my face. I never expected to love this one as much as I did, but I am so so so so so glad I picked it up.

Honorable Mentions:
I ADORED both of these books and I seriously wanted to change the rules of math and put them on the list! Both are beautiful stories with swoony guys and great heroines!

Nicole's Picks:

With All My Soul by: Rachel Vincent: I really liked this one because it was the ending and Tod and Kaylee do anything for eachother. And I love Tod, I really really love Tod.

If I Die by: Rachel Vincent: Favorite book ever! EVER! Because Tod is absolutely perfect and he is so sweet and this is when Kaylee realizes how perfect he really is. He does so much for her, that Nash never did, because Nash isn't as cool as Tod. And Tod is just super adorable throughout the whole book and I absolutely love him so this is my favorite book ever and in 2013, obviously.

Origin by: Jennifer L. Armentrout: I absolutely love Daemon and I loved seeing everything he was willing to do for Katy. In this one we really see how strong Katy is and their relationship is so precious.

Obsession by: Jennifer L. Armentrout: I really liked getting to see the Arum's point of view, when the whole time I thought they were evil. I also liked seeing that the Luxen aren't as good as we thought. I really loved Hunter's smart-assness.

Frigid by: J. Lynn: This is a different type of book from the other JLA books I had read. I liked that they were just normal.

The Fault In Our Stars by: John Green: OHHHH MYYY GOD THAT BOOK. I hate it but I love it. It tore me apart, and it made me cry so much. I don't usually cry in books, but I cried so much. Both are such amazing characters. There are no words to describe how horribly amazing this book was. It is perfect in every single way.

The Perks of Being A Wallflower by: Stephen Chbosky: I liked the different style of writing than what I usually read. I loved seeing Charlie grow from a shy kid to someone loving life, despite all the crap he went through.

Clockwork Prince by: Cassandra Clare: I like Will a lot and you finally get to understand why he is such a pain in the ass. Will is just so amazing and to see what a great person he really is and then to see Jem ruin everything UGH.

United We Spy by: Ally Carter: I have been reading this series for six years and it was one of the first series that really got me into reading and looking forward to new releases. I was so upset for it to finally end, but it was great and I love Zach.

Easy by: Tammara Webber: This was another book that I don't know why I loved it but I did. I liked it and they were normal, yet broken, people and I just liked watching them deal with it and grow.

  8. I'm so glad Origin was picked! I read the whole Lux series this year and I spent hour debating on which book I loved the most, eventually Origin won out because you're right, it is EPIC! I'm not sure what genre the Mara Dyer series really is either, but it's brilliant, confusing and full of wtf, but brilliant!
