"In a sizzling prequel novella to her new series THE DARK ELEMENTS, #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout draws readers into the extraordinary, irresistible world of Wardens and demons.

Dez wasn't just Jasmine's crush. A gargoyle Warden like Jas, he helped her come to terms with her destiny—fending off demons and maintaining balance between good and evil. He was her everything...right until the moment he disappeared without a trace. It didn't help that Jas's father had just announced that she and Dez would one day be mated. Hard not to take that personally.

And now he's back, three years older, ten times hotter, ready to pick up exactly where they left off. But Jas isn't taking that risk again. Dez has seven days to meet all her conditions and earn back her trust. Seven days filled with terrifying danger and sweet temptation. Seven days to win her heart—or shatter it all over again..."

My Thoughts:

Gargoyles people, Gargoyles!!! JLA has managed to make gargoyles sexy. I loved this novella and it has me so so ready for this new series. It’s fresh and exciting and features a paranormal creature that hasn’t been done over and over again. This world of Wardens and demons is addictive and I just know this series is going to be kickass. This novella succeeded in leaving me dying for more.

Dez, oh my heart, Dez. I have said it before but I will say it again, JLA creates the best guys. Dez is such a swoony character and I loved him. He clearly adored Jas and was willing to do whatever necessary to show her how much he cared. Speaking of Jas, I loved her too. She doesn’t let Dez just walk back into her life like nothing happened. She clearly loves him but she needs answers, and honestly she deserves them. These two are great together and their chemistry is off the charts. I rooted for them from the very beginning and I loved the way their story progressed.

I also loved the introduction of the characters we are going to follow throughout the series. We get to meet Layla, Zayne, and even Roth. I can already tell that these three are going to make for an interesting story. Layla seems like a spunky character. Zayne seems very very swoony. And well Roth, he seems like a bad boy that will be very easy to drool over.

All in all, Bitter Sweet Love was an awesome introduction to this world. It created the world, introduced us to awesome new creatures, contained action, and had a swoony romance all within one awesome novella. JLA does it again!

  6. Great review! I've got to read this soon! I have no doubt the men will be swoony in this series. Like you said, JLA creates them so well! I admit, I was skeptical about gargoyles but I felt the same way about aliens until I reluctantly tried Lux and fell in LOVE.

This is an award free blog. I truly appreciate the thought but I simply do not have the time. Comments are an award all on their own =]
