"It's a beautiful day for a war.

As the mortal world slowly slips into chaos of the godly kind, Alexandria Andros must overcome a stunning defeat that has left her shaken and in doubt of their ability to end this war once and for all.

And with all the obstacles between Alex and her happily-ever-after with the swoonworthy Aiden St. Delphi, they must now trust a deadly foe as they travel deep into the Underworld to release one of the most dangerous gods of all time.

In the stunning, action-packed climax to the bestselling Covenant series, Alex must face a terrible choice: the destruction of everything and everyone she holds dear… or the end of herself."

My Thoughts:

Oh gods, this book was just made of all kinds of awesome. I just absolutely loved this book and could not have asked for a better conclusion. I am so sad to have to say goodbye to Alex and Aiden and everyone else that I have come to love so so much. It is always bittersweet to say goodbye to a favorite series, but I can’t say I am in any way disappointed in the ending.

Alex, I just love Alex. She is strong and feisty and stubborn. I love how her mind works and the random things she comes out with. It hurt me to see how broken she was in the beginning of this book; her fight with Ares broke her in a lot of ways. But she is Alex, and she remains strong. My absolute favorite thing about Alex is the character growth she has shown. She has grown so much since Half Blood and I love that about her. She has learned from her mistakes, and events have hardened her. She has gone from the impulsive stubborn girl to someone who is still impulsive and stubborn but someone who is willing to listen to logic and reason, someone who is willing to do difficult things for the greater good and someone who even supplies the logic every now and then. She will always be one of my very favorite heroines.

Aiden St. Delphi…. Please excuse me while I take a second to melt over typing his name. I just love this boy. I don’t even know what else to say about him. There are so many wonderful things I want to say, but I don’t think words can truly do him justice. He is strong and kind and brave and charming. He is willing to do anything for Alex. He is always there for her, no matter what. He doesn’t try to hold her down and helps her to become a stronger and better version of herself. He says the best things and I swear every time he opens his mouth I fall more in love with him.

Not only are the main characters great, but we have awesome secondary characters as well. Luke and Olivia and Deacon and Marcus and Apollo, I love them all. Deacon is easily my favorite. I swear, I crack up every single time he shows up. He is just hysterical and really all sorts of awesome. Then of course there is Seth, who we all love to hate. I have a lot I want to say about Seth and his character growth, but for spoiler reasons I won’t. All I’ll say is that Seth did things I never expected him to do.

This book just delivered from page one. Of course it was heavy on the swoon and romance, it’s JLA, but it also packed a punch. This was it, the conclusion, everything for the past four books led up to this and it was awesome. There was non stop action and twists and turns all over the place. I got lost in the story and read the book in one sitting. I wish I had spread it out, because now it’s over and I don’t know what to do, but there was really no pulling me away from this book.

As far as the conclusion goes, I absolutely loved it. It was not at all what I was expecting, but that made me love it even more. I love that it took me by surprise. I’m not going to lie, I cried like a baby. For a good portion of the last pages I was an inconsolable mess. There were lots and lots of tears, both happy and sad. I had moments where I freaked out and wanted to shake the book and make different things happen, but that is what makes a story great. When you become that invested in characters and their outcomes that it feels like real life.

Sentinel was an amazing conclusion to one of my favorite series. This is a series that all YA fantasy/paranormal fans need to pick up as soon as possible! I loved taking this journey with Alex and I look forward to taking it again many more times.

  7. Incredible review!! I keep reading more and more amazing reviews on this one! You would have thought I devour this one already since I've been on the ARC list up until this final book, but sadly I am in the middle of an ebook challenge and I feel the strong urge to see it through the month.

But come December 1 this baby will the be the first book I read!! Again excellent review!

  8. I hate to admit (or perhaps I've already admitted this to you?!?) that I have not read this series. I do own the books so I'll be rectifying this grievous oversight as soon as I can, Teresa. Apparently, I need to meet Aiden if the mere typing of his name turns you into a puddle! :)

I'm so glad you loved this and that is satisfied as a conclusion to the series! Fabulous glowing review, dear!
