"I'm on trial for my life. Falsely accused of infecting my human ex-boyfriend--and killing him to cover up the crime. Infecting a human is one of three capital offenses recognized by the Pride--along with murder and disclosure of our existence to a human.I'm two for three. A goner.
Now we've discovered a rogue stray terrorizing the mountainside, hunting a wild teenage tabbycat. It's up to us to find and stop him before a human discovers us. With my lover Marc's help, I think I can protect the vulnerable girl from both the ambitious rogue and the scheming of the territorial council.

If I survive my own trial..."

My Thoughts:

It’s been over a year now since I read the last Shifters book, Rogue. I don’t know why it took me so long to pick up Pride, but I’m kind of kicking myself for not squeezing it in sooner. I seriously forgot how much I enjoy this series and the characters. It also reminded me that I need to read more adult paranormal, because I really love it.

Faythe is a character I have come to love more over time. I initially struggled with her in Stray. I liked that she was strong and independent, but I don’t like that she behaved this way at the detriment to her family. I feel like Faythe has grown so much. She is still that strong, sassy, independent girl, but she is also there for her family. She has also begun to learn to accept the consequences that come along with her actions, even if those consequences are a bit out of control. Speaking on that, I do get frustrated with the way people always seem to be looking to find her flaws and mistakes.

Then we have Marc, and I love Marc. He can be frustrating at times but I still loves him. He and Faythe are great together and so many of their problems could be solved if both of them would just speak to each other. I wish these two would have put their pride aside and used their words. It is so clear that they love each other, and finally when things start to look up, other things make their life crazy.

I have to take a second to mention Jace, because I love this boy. He is such a sweetheart and so funny. I want him to be happy in the worst way! I also need to mention Malone. How in the world does nobody see past his nonsense? How can anyone think he is looking out for anyone other than himself. He is selfish and greedy and an ass. I hate him!

What I love about this series is that each story is distinct. There are plot lines that carry over from one book to the next, however each book has its own clear problem and story to it. You don’t have a scenario where the book feels like it ends smack in the middle of a book. There are certain points to be concluded, but the main storyline is wrapped up. I also love that the romance is not the focal point, Faythe and all her crazy is front and center. This is Faythe’s story and her story is so much more than which boy she should choose (on that point, I don’t see the love triangle… this is not a love triangle… unless that happens later?) It is about finding her way and making her own path while still staying true to her family. The pretty boys are just a plus.

All in all, Pride was a good addition to the series. I tend to have a hard time with werewolf/shifter books, but I really love this series. I can’t wait to continue this story with Faythe.

  1. Oh, I love, love, love this series, too, Teresa! It's one of the few that I'm caught up on :) I agree with you that Faythe did take some time to love, but I did indeed love her. And Marc. And Jace. LOL I'm so glad you dove back into the series and hopefully you can squeeze in the last ones soon. Wonderful review!

I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving!

  2. Pretty boys are always a plus! This sounds like a great series Teresa! I love when a character shows tremendous growth in a series. Each book being distinct and standing out in the series is always great! I don't like when story lines get repetitive. Wonderful Review Teresa! Thanks for sharing :)

  3. Oh yay! I love Rachel, and after Soul Screamers ended, I was wondering about this one! I will definitely have to pick it up now that you've given the Teresa stamp of approval! I'm glad Faythe got better for you- I've had that happen with characters too, and watching them develop is my favorite part. I'm glad you enjoyed this one!

  4. I have had this series on my TBR for a while! I think I would really enjoy it -- it's been a while since I've read a werewolf/shifter story, and I just might be in the mood to give it a try. I love this great and honest review and the fact that Faythe has had so much character growth while growing on you with each book. Thanks so much for sharing and for reminding me about the series! xo
