"There’s optimistic. And there’s Jesse Walker.
If he wasn’t so charming, his sunny disposition and incessant grin would get old. Fast.Falling in love with the girl who had at first seemed immune to it, was the best thing to happen to Jesse since the Walkers adopted him into their family when he was five. But loving the girl who has her fair share of secrets is about as easy as that same girl loving the boy who seems to have none.As Jesse’s life continues at the ranch, and Rowen begins making her mark in the Seattle art community, they begin to wonder where the middle ground is. Or if there even is one.As push comes to shove and choices aren’t only needing to be made, but forced to be made, Jesse and Rowen have to face what their lives might look like without the other. Can two people with such tragic pasts and different presents, go on to expect a promising future? Whatever the answer, they’ll need a lot more than love to make it."
My Thoughts:
Rowen is such an amazing character and so so different from most of our New Adult leads. She is tough and feisty and not the swooning naïve damsel. She is the one with the bad girl past. However, I loved how far Rowen came in this book and I loved watching her live her life the way she wants to live it. She has come such a long way from the girl that first stepped off the Greyhound in Lost & Found.
Then there is Jesse and we all know how much I absolutely adore Jesse. There needs to be more characters like him. Jesse is the kind of guy ever single girl deserves but sadly they are few and far between. Personally, I think there needs to be more Jesse’s in New Adult. We all love our tattooed bad boys, but there is something very special about a character like his. While I’m on the Jesse topic, I was so excited that we got to read from his perspective in this book. I loved getting inside his head and I think it added a lot to the story. It was also necessary with the way things pan out. While Lost & Found was Rowen’s journey, Near & Far is really Jesse’s. He still has some demons he needs to face.
Oh and of course I need to mention Garth Black. Gosh I love him and his pompous ways. He was so funny and annoying but he had his serious moments as well. Moments I never expected to see from him. I am so so glad he is getting his own book, because he needs one. He has a story to tell.
So now to the juicy stuff. Jesse and Rowen do not have it easy in this one. A long distance relationship is not an easy thing, especially when other things pop up that make it harder than it was supposed to be in the first place. Other people are interested in both Rowen and Jesse and they think they have a shot because of the distance. But what I truly loved, is that never for one second did I doubt that Jesse loved Rowen and vice versa. I always had that assurance. The real problems came when you had to question if that love was enough with everything else pulling at them.
Near & Far was such a beautiful journey and one I think needed to be told. I personally know I needed that closure for these two and I needed to have my heart ripped to shreds by them. I will say this, nobody can take my heart, stomp on it, throw it in a hole and then somehow put it back together again like Nicole Williams. This book was everything I hoped it would be and more. From the sexy drool worthy cowboys to the reality of life and relationships I just loved every bit of this book.

Wow, can't wait to read this one! Should be fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to start this series and get the full Jesse experience. It sounds like one of those "has everything" type of books, emotions, romance, angst...and pretty much anything else I LOVE! Everyone who has read this, has nothing but amazing things to say about it, so I am super excited to see how it all turns out! Plus, I just love emotional reads! And oohhh...I want to meet Garth..I heard he's a bad boy...and you know how much I love them! YUM! lol ;p I'm glad you enjoyed this (how could you not!??), Teresa!
ReplyDeleteFabulous review! :D

Great review Teresa! I couldn't have agreed more! This was definitely one of the books I also LOVE. And yes. I want to see more Jesse Walker's in NA's these days. Bad boys are great, but there's something so sexy to me about a good, sweet guy. Love it!
ReplyDeleteEXACTLY! Everyone goes crazy over the bad boys (the NA Crush Tourney is a prime example of this) but what is wrong with the really good ones?
DeleteYou're killing me. Seriously. I want to drop everything and start book one. No doubt I'm going to love this one just as much as you do -- you're my wifey for a reason, yo! (I really can't pull off that 'yo,' can I?) Fabulous review, love! <3
ReplyDeleteYou deff pulled off the yo! And I will continue to be a book pusher when it comes to this one lol
