"He’s arrogant, domineering, and... To. Die. For.

Hunter is a ruthless killer. And the Department of Defense has him firmly in their grasp, which usually doesn’t chafe too badly because he gets to kill bad guys. Most of the time he enjoys his job. That is, until he’s saddled with something he’s never had to do before: protect a human from his mortal enemy.

Serena Cross didn’t believe her best friend when she claimed to have seen the son of a powerful senator turn into something... unnatural. Who would? But then she witnesses her friend’s murder at the hands of what can only be an alien, thrusting her into a world that will kill to protect their secret.

Hunter stirs Serena’s temper and her lust despite their differences. Soon he’s doing the unthinkable—breaking the rules he’s lived by, going against the government to keep Serena safe. But are the aliens and the government the biggest threats to Serena’s life… or is it Hunter?"

My Thoughts:

Hey look everyone, it is another JLA book I have fallen in love with. Is anyone surprised? Nope, I wasn’t either. I swear, there is nothing this woman could write that I would not read. I adored Obsession even with my doubts. I wasn’t sure what it would be like to see the Luxen as the bad guys and I was worried that I would have a hard time letting that go. Well I still adored it and Jenn managed to make it seem like that was the way things have always been.

Lux series fans, be prepared to be knocked on your ass. Everything you thought you knew about the Luxen and Arum is going to be turned upside down. Turns out not all Luxen are these super hero good guys and not all the Arum are purely evil soul sucking monsters. Then again, good Luxen do still exist and there are bad Arum. Just like there are good and bad humans, the same rules apply to Luxen and Arum. I think if the good Luxen and the good Arum could find a way to work together, then they might stand a chance again the DOD. I have seen numerous people switching to Team Arum after this book and personally I am conflicted. I’m not sure I am ready to abandon Daemon, Dawson, and Dee but the Arum do have some good points. I am going to be Team Switzerland here and hope these two alien races can work it out!

Once again JLA delivers with a truly swoonworthy guy! Hunter is definitely her baddest boy yet, but in the best way possible. I have seen numerous people say that they liked Hunter more than Daemon, and while I can’t say that (Daemon stole a piece of my heart a long time ago), I can say that Hunter is someone you will fall for and hard. Hunter is badass, sexy, droolworthy, a smartass, and a royal pain in the thigh and that is really the best way to describe him.

Then we have Serena who is truly awesome. She is so feisty and tough and has no problem standing up to Hunter, even though he could literally squish her like a bug. She kept her sanity as the world fell apart around her and I loved her for that. I also loved that she accepted pretty quickly that her life would never be the same after this.

The chemistry between Serena and Hunter was scorching hot! Their interactions were incredible. They were hysterical when they were fighting, well Serena was fighting and Hunter was getting amused at her being angry, and they were just hot when they were doing things other than fighting. I loved their relationship and that is that.

Now is the moment where I freak out over the tiny glimpse we get of Daemon. I loved it and it broke my heart at the same time. *sobs quietly in a corner*

Obsession is a book that any fan of the Lux series needs to read (provided you read mature content). It really sheds some light on the other side of things and expands a world you thought you knew. I loved every little piece of this book and now all I want is more!
