"For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the 'man' in man-whore. He's never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she's perfect and she's everything. But the feelings he has for her, he's always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one."

My Thoughts:

I’m not really sure where I want to begin with Frigid. There is so much I want to say about it, but my thoughts are all jumbled and running around because I loved the book so much. JLA has outdone herself yet again. Just when you think she has given you her best book yet, she surprises you with yet another gem. Frigid is a fresh and welcome addition to the New Adult genre. It doesn’t follow the pattern that most NA books seem to follow as of late and that makes it even better.

I’m not even going to dance around the topic… Kyler Quinn is fantastic! Every time I pick up a JLA book I add another character to the book boyfriend list, and this one was no exception. Kyler is so so so easy to fall in love with. I fell hard for Kyler very quickly. He is so confident and charming and sweet and we cannot forget that he is drool worthy. I may quite possibly have a new favorite.

What is even better about this book is that both Sydney and Kyler are relatable. They are probably Jenn’s most relatable characters yet. Neither character has anything truly extraordinary about them, they are just two college kids getting ready to graduate and the situation they are thrown into while extreme is definitely feasible. Sydney and Kyler have been best friends since they were little and over time those feelings grew, but do you want to risk that kind of friendship? It is a hard line to cross and as a reader you can completely understand why both characters have been so hesitant for so long. You can understand why both Kyler and Sydney don’t want to risk losing one another.

I’m pretty sure every girl has had a Kyler in their life at one point in time. That one guy you know everything about and he knows everything about you. That one guy that everyone outside of your relationship says “you two would be so cute together.” That guy that you are perpetually stuck in the friend zone with. It is a very interesting scenario to read about, because I am sure every girl reading Frigid will think back to their Kyler and think “what if” or possibly “I was there once.”

What really makes Frigid great is that it is not solely a romance. There is a twist to the story and a bit of intrigue and action that just proves to make the story better. I also loved that it switched up the perspectives. I loved seeing the parallel between Sydney and Kyler. While I had moments where I wanted to yell and scream at them both “you are thinking the same thing”, the dual perspective proved to truly allow you to understand the characters. It was also cute seeing how insecure they both really were with each other despite knowing one another their whole life. It really put the emphasis one how and why they both hid their feelings as long as they did.

All in all, Frigid is an amazing read and one I know I will be able to visit over and over again. Kyler and Sydney are amazing characters and characters that you will easily make room for in your heart. I know I have built them their own little room where they now both live and they live there quite happily I might add. So whether you are a JLA die hard or not, please do yourself a favor and introduce yourself to Sydney and Kyler.
