"There are two sides to every love story. Now hear Will’s.

Colleen Hoover’s New York Times bestselling Slammed series has brought countless readers to their knees with a whirlwind of love, passion, and heartache.

Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.

In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from hispoint of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series."

My Thoughts:

I butterflying loved this book! I really shouldn’t be surprised though, as I butterflying love every single book Colleen Hoover decides to bless the world with. Colleen’s books just have so many layers and she brings her characters to life so beautifully and believably. This wasn’t just Slammed from Will’s point of view; it was so much more than that.

Will Cooper is one of the first contemporary characters I really fell in love with. He opened my eyes to the beauty a “regular” guy could bring to a story and that paranormal isn’t always better. I didn’t think it was possible for me to love him any more, but I somehow fell even more in love with him in this book. We all knew that during Slammed, he wasn’t as okay with the situation as he came across, but finally knowing for sure what he felt like was both beautiful and heartbreaking. He is so selfless; every action on his part is done because he truly thinks it is the best thing for Layken. Even the times when you thought he was acting selfishly, he always had Layken’s best interest at heart. I feel like I have been given a beautiful gift experiencing Slammed from his perspective.

Like I said, this was so much more than just Slammed from another point of view. There was so much more to the story that at times it was like reading something completely new. We got to experience new events that came between Slammed and Point of Retreat, one of those scenes was very pivotal. We also get a beautiful epilogue that may or may not have made me cry like a baby. I can’t think of a better way to close out the series. I just wanted to read it over and over again… so I did.

The thing I loved most is the style in which it was written. I absolutely loved the flashbacks. I loved that is wasn’t simply Slammed all over again. By doing it in flashback, we got to see Layken react to Will’s stories. It also enabled Colleen to skip certain events and just focus on the more pivotal moments in Slammed. She was able to truly focus on the important moments and skip over ones we didn’t really need to see from another perspective.

I don’t even know what else I can say about this book, except that it is beautiful. Anyone who has read and loved this series needs to read this book. Despite me knowing the outcome from the get go, I still felt every single moment right in the feels. When Will walked in and saw Layken with the schedule, I broke down all over again. I knew everything turned out alright, but that didn’t stop all the feelings from getting up and smacking me in the face.

Please read this book and if you haven’t started this series, what the heck are you waiting for?

  1. I'm happy to see that you love this one more than me. I mean I did like it but then at some points it was nothing more than retelling the previous two books. But we've gotten some new slams! Yaya for that :) Great review :)
