Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke And The Bookish

I really like this week's topic! There are so many times where I am blown away by a book I never expected to love and then sadly there are times where I think I will love a book and end up disappointed.

1. Greta and the Goblin King by: Chloe Jacobs- I expected to like this one... I did not expect it to knock me on my ass! I absolutely loved this book and the characters!

2. The Immortal Rules by: Julie Kagawa- I love Julie's Iron Fey books so I really thought I would love this one too! Sadly it was not all I had hoped it would be.

3. Bloodspell by: Amalie Howard- This is another one that really surprised me. I picked it up based on the cover and was shocked by how much I loved the story!
4. Walking Disaster by: Jamie McGuire- I LOVED Beautiful Disaster and could not wait to get inside Travis' head. Sadly I did not enjoy being in his head as much as I thought I would.

5. Deadlocked by: Charlaine Harris- I had always loved the Sookie books but then this one was just... ugh... I can't even talk about it without it upsetting me.. just no.

6. Matched by: Ally Condie- So many people love these books and the premise is so cool and I thought it was perfect for me, but then there was just something missing.

7. Obsidian by: Jennifer L. Armentrout- So we all know I ADORE this series. But when I first picked it up I wasn't sure about it... I mean aliens? Initially it just sounds... I don't know.. but I was hesitant. Daemon stole my heart quickly as did Katie. And the rest is history... I am now a JLA fangirl for life.
8. Vampire Academy by: Richelle Mead- I actually avoided this book for years because it just seemed like another typical vampire book. When I finally picked it up I was shocked at how much I loved Rose and Dimitri and then I proceeded to hit myself for taking so long to read it.

9. Tithe by: Holly Black- It's fairies... cool faeries.. where could it go wrong? Sadly it did. I liked it, but I wanted to love it.

10. Ruining Me by: Nicole Reed- This one knocked me on my ass! I was amazed at how much I came to care for the characters and how invested in the story I got when really I just expected a nice New Adult.

What made your list? Link me.

  1. Haha I just read Vampire Academy series recently and had the same reaction. LOL I don't know why I waited so long!

  2. I was the same about VA and I've been putting off obsidian because of the whole alien thing but I just need to get on it!

  3. I totally agree with Walking Disaster. I don't know what I've expected but not that. I also loved VA and Obsidian :) Great list :)

  4. I still haven't read Walking Disaster, but I've heard similar reasons as to yours. It worries me because I have so many questions I want answered.

  5. Funny! I was dubious about Obsidian too because of the alien factor. But like you, I quickly became a fan of Daemon and Katie. There is something about those two which makes me want to shout MORE!!! Can't wait for Origin.

  6. Vampire Academy is amazing!!! I think a lot of people felt disappointed by Walking Disaster. Thanks for sharing!

  7. Exactly the same thoughts with Matched and Vampire Academy! There was just some missing excitement with Matched, and VA turned out to be one of my favorite series! :D

    Check This Out! :)

  8. Vampire Academy seems to be making it on to a lot of lists this week! I loved it!

I had no expectations going into Greta and the Goblin King, but I ended up loving it!

  9. Walking Disaster was definitely a bit disappointing. I was hope to be able to better understand Travis, but really, he's just kinda crazy :)

    Love Obsidian, too! And DAEMON!

  10. I really loved VA, too, and I had put it off for a long time before reading it. That's interesting about Greta...I have a copy, but it never really caught my eye. Now I'm interested.

    YA Sisterhood

Thanks for stopping by my TT!

  11. I definitely agree with Matched, I wanted to love it but, it was just meh for me. But could you tell me why you didn't like The Immortal Rules?

    1. I didn't hate The Immortal Rules, but I didn't love it like I was expecting to. Also I struggle with Allie. I have a hard time connecting to her I liked The Eternity Cure a lot more though.

  12. I definetly agreed with Matched in my TTT!

  13. I thought The Immortal Rules was pretty good, but it didn't blow me away like I was expecting it to.

  14. I totally agree with you on Vampire Academy, Obsidian *swoon*, Ruining Me, and Tithe. Those others you loved, I'm adding them to my TBR! ;)

  15. Aww that stinks you didn't really care for Immortal Rules. I really enjoyed how different it was. Sadly, Bloodspell didn't do it for me. I just liked it ok. When I first started Obsidian I didn't think I would like it because Daemon was a jerk! And now I'm a Daemon fangirl for life. LOL. I also held off on Vampire Academy for awhile, but I read it and was like, 'where have you been all my life?!'

Thanks for stopping by my TTT Teresa!

    1. Haha so many people seem to say that about VA. It is one of those books that sneaks up on you.

  16. JLA for life! I love this list! I still need to read Greta and the Goblin King! I'm excited about it! And I was a bit hesitant about Obsidian, too. Though I'm also so glad I took a chance on it ;D
I avoided Vampire Academy, too, and hopefully I can pick it up, and change my view on it. Since the first book was just okay to me :D

    Magen Chambers

  17. So much awesome in this post, Teresa! I really loved the Matched series, I think it was one of the first dystopian novels I read and fell head over heels for! Absolute YES to Vampire Academy! Those books were just . . . nope, there's absolutely no words! And of course anything JLA writes is worth a read!
    Great picks lovey! =D

  18. The immortal rules was a bit of a let down for me too, just too slow.

I love getting comments and appreciate every single one of them! It always brightens my day =]

This is an award free blog. I truly appreciate the thought but I simply do not have the time. Comments are an award all on their own =]
