"Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…

That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever."

My Thoughts:

How does one even begin to write a review for a book like this? Being that Slammed and Point of Retreat are two of my all-time favorite books ever, I went into Hopeless with incredibly high expectations. I was in no way what so ever disappointed. I devoured this book in one sitting and nothing and no one could keep me from reading. I’m pretty sure I angered the majority of my family because I snapped at them every time they tried to get my attention while I was reading this book.

At this point I don’t even know what I can say about this book that hasn’t already been said. It is incredible. It broke my heart over and over again, but I still loved every single minute of it. This is one of the most emotional books I have ever read. I laughed, I cried, I smiled, I ugly sobbed, I sighed, and then I cried some more. I just wanted to make everything better for these characters and it broke my heart because I couldn’t fix them.

Sky and her circumstances just broke me down. I absolutely loved this girl and her strength and her determination. Not everyone could have survived what she did. She is the definition of resilient and I don’t think there is anything else I can say.

Then we have Holder who really gave Will Cooper a run for his money and I love Will Cooper. I am going to cross book references here and say that Holder is butterflying amazing. He is so incredibly passionate and just wonderful. The way he loves Sky is so beautiful. Also he is witty and I love a witty character.

This book has so many twists and turns that I never knew what to expect. So many different things happen that it is hard to believe that all of these terrible things could occur to these two people. Just when one twist is dropped on you another one pops up a few chapters later. The hurt just kept piling up until it was almost too much.

With that being said, the story was also beautiful. Watching these two fall in love was so heartwarming. To see these two broken people come together and begin to heal one another… I just don’t have words to fully express how much I enjoyed experiencing their story. It was the beauty in a world full of crap.

Hopeless is an emotional journey that I am so incredibly glad I experienced. There is no way I will ever shake Holder and Sky and I do not want to. This book dug its way under my skin and it is so clear why so many people love it.
