"Just breathe, Kacey. Ten tiny breaths. Seize them. Feel them. Love them.

Four years ago Kacey Cleary’s life imploded when her car was hit by a drunk driver, killing her parents, boyfriend, and best friend. Still haunted by memories of being trapped inside, holding her boyfriend’s lifeless hand and listening to her mother take her last breath, Kacey wants to leave her past behind. Armed with two bus tickets, twenty-year-old Kacey and her fifteen-year-old sister, Livie, escape Grand Rapids, Michigan, to start over in Miami. Struggling to make ends meet, Kacey needs to figure out how to get by. But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle anything—anything but her mysterious neighbor in apartment 1D.

Trent Emerson has smoldering blue eyes, deep dimples, and he perfectly skates that irresistible line between nice guy and bad boy. Hardened by her tragic past, Kacey is determined to keep everyone at a distance, but their mutual attraction is undeniable and Trent is determined to find a way into Kacey’s guarded heart—even if it means that an explosive secret could shatter both their worlds."

My Thoughts:

I can’t even begin to fully explain the multitude of emotions going on inside me right now. This was definitely an emotional book and it knocked me on my ass. I really don’t even know how to write this review because I am so jumbled. I absolutely loved this book and it blew every book I have read recently out of the water. I have no clue what I can possibly read next that will in any way compare to this one.

Kacey is broken. She has suffered deeply from a tragedy four years ago and she has never truly recovered from it. Sure she has buried her emotions, but she never healed. At the same time, she is very strong. She tries to do what she thinks is right and will literally do anything for her sister Livie. Livie is the only person she really cares about anymore, that is until the two of them move to Miami. In Miami Kacey finds a new family and one very good looking next door neighbor.

Trent is the good looking next door neighbor and he has a way of getting past the fortified walls Kacey has built up around her. Trent seems to be exactly what Kacey needs. However, Trent has a past of his own and he has his secrets too. I couldn’t help but adore Trent, even when I wanted to kill him.

This book really messed with my head. You know that moment about halfway through a book where everything is happy and you just know that something bad will happen? Well that happened and I prepared myself for the heartache. Then the heartache hit and I was a mess of course because I just cannot help but get emotionally invested in a book like this. Then we made it through and I thought I was home free, but then it happened again and I wasn’t prepared for it this time. Also the second time was so much worse! The twist was insane and I had to take a step back from the book to absorb it. The funny thing is, at one point I had an OMG moment and I guessed the twist, but then I went “nah no way that could be it” and I dismissed the thought. Well I was right and I have learned not to doubt myself. But yeah, I’m rambling. What I’m getting at here is that this book will make you bonkers in the best way possible.

As I mentioned previously, this book is emotional. One moment I was ugly sobbing and the next I was crying tears of joy. I love it when a book can elicit that much emotion from me. I really felt what the characters were feeling and I was one hundred percent invested in their story. I really cared about the characters and while it seemed impossible I wanted them to have a happy ending. I wanted Kacey to learn to forgive and I wanted Trent to deal with his issues as well.

If it’s not clear from this probably incoherent review, I truly loved this book. I would be surprised if this doesn’t end up as a top ten read for me this year. I don’t see myself shaking these characters any time soon and I am already trying to make time to read this one again. I have read some great books this year, but even the really good ones I read recently just weren’t oh my gosh amazing, but this one was oh my gosh amazing and I am so glad I read this one. So please read this book now!

  1. I've had this one for a while, but have been scared to read it. I joined the blog tour for incentive! Your review is just gorgeous.

Have you read Kathleen's paranormal books? They're great.

    1. No! But the moment I finished this I added her other books to my TBR. Hope you enjoy this one as much as I did.

  2. I'm glad you enjoyed this one, it wasn't a favourite for me but that new cover is possibly prettier than the first one (which really takes some doing!)

  3. I guessed the twist too but couldn't piece it all together...then of course was heart broken and acted like a big baby about it. :) Love a book that pulls at the heartstrings, or rips the heart to shreds as the case may be.

  4. I love when I can get so emotional to a book, even with the bad feels! It can wrap you up and consume you! Especially when you are so invested in the book. And Yes! I will definitely read this book :D

    Great review!

  5. Thanks for the lovely review. I have this one waiting for me on my nook - think I'll wait a few days. :) I've had a lot of emotion in my books lately (Ruining Me & Ruining You). I'll have to run to the store for kleenex before I start it. :)

    1. I seriously hope you love this book! It is deff emotional but worth the ride!

  6. Love this review and the fact that this book elicited so much emotion from you! I thought you did a beautiful job putting those feelings into words! You've convinced me to buy this one immediately. Bring on the pain!! *sniff* *sniff* <3

    1. AHHH we must discuss as soon as you finish! I have all these feelings haha

I love getting comments and appreciate every single one of them! It always brightens my day =]

This is an award free blog. I truly appreciate the thought but I simply do not have the time. Comments are an award all on their own =]
