"An ambitious intern. A perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling. Discover the story that garnered more than two million reads online.

Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He’s exacting, blunt, inconsiderate—and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard.

Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family’s massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who’d been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative—completely infuriating—creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he’s never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe’s so tempting he’s willing to bend the rules—or outright smash them—if it means he can have her. All over the office.

As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they’re willing to lose in order to win each other. Originally only available online as The Office by tby789—and garnering over two million reads on fan fiction sites—Beautiful Bastard has been extensively updated for re-release."

My Thoughts:

Okay, so let’s get all the drama out of the way since this appears to be a book that elicits a lot of emotion from some. Yes this was originally a Twilight fan fiction, but I honestly didn’t see the connection between the two. Also, I don’t see why that would deter you from reading a book or from enjoying it. No matter where a book gets its start, it can still be an enjoyable read. Okay stepping down from my soap box, I just wanted to address this before I truly began.

To sum this book up, I would simply say that it was lots and lots of fun. If you are looking for a meaningful book with many layers, this is not it. If you are looking for a fun read, then this is the book you want! The book has a very addictive quality to it and I couldn’t help but get caught up in the story.

What I really enjoyed about this story was the characters. Neither one of them is perfect and it clearly shows. They are both incredibly stubborn and a lot of their initial interaction has to do with some sort of argument. They actually really hate each other in the beginning. They simply know how to piss one another off royally. However, there is no deep reason behind the way they act. Neither character is broken with a dark past; they are just human and act like it. They get on each other’s nerves and have no problem letting the other know how they feel. There is a very fine line between love and hate and this story really shows that.

I actually really like Chloe. She is incredibly strong, determined, and intelligent. She works hard to get what she wants and doesn’t let anything stand in her way. She sets incredibly high standards for herself and her career and she never settles for second best. Then we have Bennett who is also incredibly driven, but he is also a jerk. He doesn’t make the best first impression on the reader. However, because we get to be inside his head, the reader can understand that she annoys him as much as he annoys her.

Now with this book I have to take some time to mention the schmexy scenes. I thought they were done very well. There was a lot of them, but at the same time I never got the feeling that there were too may. Also I thought they were done tactfully. They were hot and steamy but never felt awkward.

All in all Beautiful Bastard was a really enjoyable read. I am so glad I didn't listen to the reviews and decided to try it for myself.

Drop by tomorrow for my interview with the authors!!!

  4. Ack! You definitely make me want to read this! I saw some really bad reviews, but I think those were due to fanfic hate abs not the actual book. The reviews from readers I know & trust have all been positive . I'm glad you liked this. Great review!
