Character Spotlight: Jude Ryder

So this week I was feeling angsty and decided to do a character spotlight on a character who is not perfect and had a lot of hurdles to overcome. So this week I am going with Jude Ryder from the Crash series by Nicole Williams.

Jude Ryder is the definition of a bad boy and we all know how much I love a good bad boy. Jude was just a great character to read about. He is sweet, funny, troubled, and it is hard not to fall for him. He may not always make the best choices but he makes those choices with good intentions. Jude has not had an easy life and it has affected everything about him. He never wants to get too close to anyone because he fears what will happen when he does.

All that changes when he meets Lucy. Those two have an undeniable attraction, but that doesn’t mean things are easy. Things are never easy for these two. Every time it seems like things are about to get better, something comes along and ruins it all. Their relationship is a rollercoaster and it makes them question if the highs are worth the lows.

I fell in love with Jude simply because he is broken. He tries so hard to be a good person, but it is hard when life is not good to you. He stole my heart in Clash though. He had come such a long way from the boy we initially met in Crash and in many ways he grew up. He became the person he had the potential to be and that was the best part. I love when a character grows like this and this is what sealed the deal for me.

All in all, Jude is just a character I think you should meet and if you want to know even more about him you can check out the character interview I did with him right here

Favorite Jude Quotes:

“You’ve got all my firsts,” he said. “All the ones that matter.” -Crash

“The name’s Jude Ryder, since I know you’re all but salivating like a rabid dog to know, and I don’t do girlfriends, relationships, flowers or regular phone calls. If that works for you, I think we could work out something special.” –Crash

“I know I’m one royal screw up, and god knows there’s nothing I could ever do to deserve you,” he began, taking my hand in his after sliding the ring free from the chain. “But I want you, Lucy Larson. Bad. I want you forever. The kind of bad I have for you isn’t the kind that goes away.” –Clash

“I love you, Jude.” …“And that makes me the luckiest bastard in the world.” –Clash

And yes, I agree with you so much about Jude maturing and growing in Clash. Sigh, you make me want to go re-read my favorite parts all over again... favorite parts being the whole book. ;p

ALLLLSO, Jude's quote where he first introduces himself to Lucy ranks like... up in the top five for me. There's just... so much of his personality in that one line! <333

Teresa, this is by far my favorite character spotlight! Just everything about it, was just wonderful. I also agree with you on it! I feel for Jude because he was broken, but it is wonderful to see how far he has come. I cannot wait to get more of him in the next book! But, I'm so sad it's coming to an end :(
