Source: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

"For a girl who dared to tempt death, living is the only promise that matters now.

Jay’s life almost came to a forced end when her darkest secrets were revealed and the one who she chose to give her future to was ripped away. Now, everything she kept hidden is the topic of everyone’s conversation, and not all are sympathetic. Someone wants her horrific past to dictate her future, and another is determined to help her choose a different path.

In conclusion to Ruining Me, Kane and Rhye know that Jay is worth the fight, but waiting for her to find herself may ruin them all."

My Thoughts:

I really don’t know what to write for this review. Ruining Me had a real impact on me and that left me with some very high expectations for the sequel. Would this book impact me just as much? Would it be just as captivating? Well, yes and yes. Ruining You was a great continuation to Jay’s story and I can honestly say that I loved every minute of it, even the minutes that hurt.

Ruining Me leaves the reader in a very emotional place and when the story picks back up in Ruining You it is still in that emotional place. Jay is away at rehab in order to deal with the aftermath of the events in Ruining Me. She is learning to deal with the fact that she attempted to take her own life and to deal with the events that prompted it. Her head is a very messed up place and it is a difficult place to be. Jay is a character that you will instantly feel for. With everything she has had to deal with it is amazing that she has been able to cope at all! I feel it necessary to repeat in this review that her actions should not be judged because everyone deals differently!

Where Ruining Me began Jay’s journey, Ruining You is very much about her recovery. The whole story is centered on Jay coming out of her depression and finding reasons to live. It is about Jay deciding what she wants to do with her life and moving on from her past. There is also the question of who she wants to move on with.

Jay is once again given a choice between two very different paths and two very different guys. But I will repeat, this story is not about which guy she should choose. It is about Jay doing what is right for her and making her life what she wants it to be. I will admit that I had a guy I preferred, but if Jay had chosen differently and if it seemed like the path was right for her it would not have ruined the story for me. I am happy with the choice Jay made because it is clearly what she wanted and probably where her life would have gone even if things had turned out differently with JT. JT loved the girl that died two years ago, not the girl who is around now.

This story went right for the heart and it will make you feel a wide array of emotions. While it hurts a majority of the time, it still mixes in some sweet and sexy moments too. This book shows that even in the middle of hell, you can still find your piece of heaven.

This series is one of those series that you will not be able to forget any time soon. The characters worm their way into your heart and you become invested in them. I can honestly say that I will not forget these books any time soon and I honestly do not want to.

  5. Great review! I have never heard of these books before but they definitely sounds like a heavy story. I love those though, especially stories that you can't get out of your head. Definitely looking into these more now.

  6. Ever since you introduced me to this series, I have been very curious to see how the final outcome will turn out. I love stories like this, so I can't wait to pick it up. I really hope Jay got the ending she wanted. I love sad books, but I hate then at the same time! Know what I mean?? But, I don't think I'll be passing this one, I definitely want to see why the characters and the story got to you so deeply.

    Great review, Teresa! :)
