"Happily ever after doesn’t come easy. But for love, it’s always worth the fight.

Olivia finds bliss unlike any she’s ever known in Cash’s arms. He sets her skin on fire and melts her heart right inside her chest. Unfortunately, their happily ever after is short-lived when a shadow from Cash’s past threatens to turn their world upside down.

Dangerous people from his father’s world have discovered that Cash holds information that could put them away for a very long time. And they’re willing to do anything—and hurt anybody—to get it back. Giving it up means Cash must choose between the life of his father and the life of Olivia.

Having nearly overcome her wariness of bad boys, Olivia’s trust is shaken when this new threat arises. Now she finds that Cash is not only a danger to her heart, but his family has associations that are a danger to her life as well. She soon discovers that there are some situations in life where trust is a girl’s only option. And this is one of them. If she’s to live, she must trust Cash with her life. But to Olivia, that’s much, much easier than letting go and trusting him with her heart."

My Thoughts:

Guys… I am moving to Antarctica. Why? Because that is probably the only place where it is safe enough to read this book. Up To Me is super steamy and hot but it is also so much more than that. I don’t think it is a secret that I absolutely loved Down To You, so I had very high expectations for Up To Me. Not going to lie, I was a bit worried. I wondered how the story would continue and if it would live up to the first book. Well it definitely lived up to the first book and in ways it even surpassed it. I am officially putting in a request to Miss Leighton that she never stop writing, because each book just gets better and better.

Why yes I am obsessed with a fictional character and yes his name is Cash Davenport. I can’t even begin to explain all the reasons why I love his character. He is such a bad boy but at the same time, he is a genuinely good person. He is that bad boy it is perfectly okay to fall for. Well maybe not perfectly okay, but as far as bad boys go, he is a good choice. I love his witty personality and I love his inner monologues, especially the ones where he yells at himself. I also love the lengths he will go to in order to keep Olivia safe. Simply put, Cash blows other fictional guys out of the water and let’s not even begin to compare him to real guys.

Speaking of Olivia, I love her character. She is just a whole bunch of fun and I just love her way with words. Between her and Cash, the banter is just priceless. I think though, I like Olivia simply because she is realistic. She has flaws and doubts and insecurities, which is something any woman can relate to. Also, she doesn’t rely on Cash for everything. She is her own person and a strong one at that.

Part of the reason Up To Me was so great, is that it mixed action into the story. Down To You was very much about Olivia, Cash, and Nash working through the convoluted web of feelings and that was the main focus of the story. Well, while Up To Me still has a heavily romantic aspect, it is not the only driving force in the story. Remember that epilogue in Down To You, where clearly Cash’s past is coming back to haunt him? Well it does and the consequences of that past are really what drives the story alongside Cash and Olivia’s romance. That is why there is more action and that is why the story is just that much more awesome. Also, this book delivers numerous twists that will leave you with your mouth hanging open and unable to form any words whatsoever.

Now with a cover like this one, it is like law that I take a moment to discuss the romantic aspect of the book. Well, the romantic aspect is fan-freakin-tastic. There are scenes that will just glue you to the pages and nothing will be able to pull you away. I swear, a zombie could have been chowing down on my leg and I probably wouldn’t have even looked up from all the steamy goodness. Hence my opening Antarctica comment.

There is not much more I can say about this book without getting spoilery, so I will wrap it up. Just know that Up To Me is a fast paced, addictive, and all around great read. M. Leighton has done it again and I am looking forward to whatever book she releases next!

  1. You know I wasn't sure I was going to read this one, I loved Cash in Down To You but I wasn't sure where she would take it once the "majorly shocking twist that shall remain nameless to avoid spoilerage" was out! You've totally convinced me I need to read the rest, even if it's just for the steam factor being so high you need to move to a desolate below zero climate to survive it, now that's a book I want to read! ;)
    Great review chicken!
