"tick, tick, tick, tick, tick
it's almost
time for war.

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.

She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life."

My Thoughts:

Unravel Me was so much better than Shatter Me, and I really loved Shatter Me, so that is saying something. So much changes over the course of this book; things you thought were unchangeable turn out to be quite changeable indeed. This holds especially true for Warner. I have been Team Warner from the beginning – don’t shoot! – something about him just caught my attention. However, I think a lot of people, especially people who disliked him, are going to be torn about him after reading this book. There is much more to Warner than just an evil villain. Unravel Me introduces the real villain that we should fear and Warner is not it.

Juliette grows up so much throughout the course of this book and I really came to admire her character. She was never one of the strongest characters out there, with very good reason, but in this book she really learns to stand on her own and I loved it. There is one quote that I think really sums her up perfectly in this one: “All I know is that it’ll never be safe for me to rely on someone else again, to need constant reassurance of who I am and who I might someday be. I can love him, but I can’t depend on him to be my backbone. I can’t be my own person if I constantly require someone else to hold me together.” I love that she recognizes that she can be strong without the help of anyone else. I am really looking forward to what she brings to the table in the final installment.

Now do not get me wrong, I like Adam, I really do, but he kinda got on my nerves at points during Unravel Me. He was just very mopey for a lot of the book and while I understood why, I still got tired of it. I just don’t do well with characters who are depressed for a majority of a book. I still like him but I just felt like a lot of the time we saw him, he was upset and it would result in the same scene between him and Juliette.

Warner… we all know I love the broken ones and Warner is definitely broken. I don’t want to give too much away, so let’s just say the Warner in Unravel Me is not the same Warner we met in Shatter Me. He is the Warner I always knew was hiding underneath his crazy exterior somewhere. See, I truly think that Warner understands Juliette in a way that nobody else can. He truly gets what it is like to be her, because he lived a very similar life. Whether you are Team Warner or Team Adam, Unravel Me will make you question who is really better for Juliette. Because honestly I think Warner accepts Juliette as she is, while there are things about herself she has to change for Adam. But I digress, that may just be my Warner bias showing through. I do think there may be a lot of team switching after this one.

Now I have to talk about Kenji. He literally stole every scene he was in. He has such an arrogant yet wonderfully witty personality. The things that came out of his mouth never ceased to amaze me. Kenji definitely has a way with words.

The writing in Unravel Me is simply breathtaking. The writing is just beautiful and astounding and gosh I just don’t know how to describe it. The story flows so wonderfully and the writing is just flawless.

My one complaint is the way Juliette is treated at the beginning of the book. Be warned this could be considered spoilery. It seemed as if the people at Omega Point just couldn’t understand why Juliette had trouble interacting with others and just wanted her to settle in and be BFFs with everyone right away. I’m sorry, but what did you expect from a girl who spent most of her life in solitude? I know she needed a push, I just don’t think anyone truly took the time to understand her and just kept telling her to suck it up instead.

Overall, Unravel Me is a great follow up to Shatter Me, and please do yourself a favor and read Destroy Me the novella from Warner’s POV beforehand; it really adds something to the story. This book will grab your attention and hold it until the very end.

  1. Team Warner right from the start. Does this mean I'm going to fall head over heels over him after this? Much more than Destroy Me? OHMYGOD! :)

  2. I don't know why, but I am not excited to read this at all. And I loved Shatter Me. I think maybe it's b/c of the Warner situation. I mean, I liked him too, but he's kind of a psychopath. (Don't hit me!) And I personally don't like guys like that turned into heroes. He is a great character, though.

I think the main reason I quit wanting to read the series is the cover. I don't like this cover at all & it makes me so mad that it doesn't match my Shatter Me cover.

I'm happy you loved Unravel Me. I love your review.

    1. I wouldnt say he turns into a hero per say, but umm idk how to describe it. Maybe that you see past the front he put up in Shatter Me? Hmm idk how to put it really.

But I agree with you on the cover thing. I like this new cover but I'm not a fan of them changing covers mid series. I want my books to match!

  3. I love your review, reading it just drives me to the edge of my chair, waiting, waiting, WAITING!
True or False, is Adam hiding something? I kind of liked him in Shatter Me but there was always something I couldn't quite place that bothered me about him.
I liked Warner more, instead. Reminded me of The Prince by Machiavelli.

  4. WARNER!!!!! Gosh, why is it that everyone has read this series except for me?????? I always miss out on my good books and the hot guys! *sigh* But, I am going to remedy my awful situation and finally pick up this series....only because of Warner. *wink* But, I love the sound of the plot, it's very unique...and you know how much I like different. I'm also excited to meet the characters, especially Adam, and why you don't like him so much and of course Juliette. I can't wait! YAY! :)

And I completely agree with liking the "broken" guys...there is just something so attractive about them! It's sexy in its own way...yeah let's put it that way. lol ;p

Awesome review, as always, Teresa! I'm glad you enjoyed this!
