Character Spotlight: Robin Goodfellow aka Puck

So this week I wanted to go with a character that is a bit different from characters I have done in the past. So instead of picking the swoon-worthy hero or kickass heroine, I went with the best friend. The best friend in particular is Robin Goodfellow aka Puck from The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa.

While I may be a Team Ash kind of gal, Puck has always held a special place in my heart. I may not have wanted him with Meghan, but that did not mean I did not love his character. He always knew just how to make an entrance and steal a scene. Puck has an incredibly charming personality and he is simply irresistible.

Puck is the kind of character that has the ability to make me laugh out loud. The things that come out of his mouth never cease to amaze me. He always has a witty comeback or a snappy retort. If Puck is speechless, there is a serious problem. He is the master of sarcasm. This is probably why I love him so much. I have a soft spot for people who speak fluent sarcasm.

Another thing I adore about Puck is that he really is a great friend. He is by Meghan’s side no matter what. Despite all the hurt that happens between them, he doesn’t abandon her. If she needs him, he will be there. It broke my heart that Puck could not get the girl he wanted, and if it was anyone but Ash who had won Meghan’s heart I would have been extremely upset that Puck lost out. But since it is Ash, I can't be upset, those two are made for eachother.

I also love the love-hate bromance between Ash and Puck. While they may always be at each other’s throats, deep down they will always have each others backs. Puck will never admit it, but in The Iron Knight Puck goes along with Ash to help him as much as he went for Meghan. The banter between these two is priceless!

All in all, Puck is a wonderful character that brings so much life to The Iron Fey. I look forward to watching him cause some more trouble in the spinoff Iron Fey books.

Favorite Puck Quotes:

“Ash glared at me. “Why do things always happen when I’m around you?” “Just lucky, I suppose.”” –Summer’s Crossing

“I looked at Puck, smirking “I think you offended him, Goodellow.” He snorted. “If I ever worried about that, I’d never open my mouth.” –The Iron Knight

“Me? Die? Didn't they tell you, princess? I'm Robin Goodfellow.” –The Iron King

“Ash blinked. "Are you raiding the cellars now, Goodfellow?" "Me? Stealing?" Puck flashed a devious grin and popped another fruit into his mouth. "In the house of my ancient enemy? What gave you that idea?" He plucked another fruit and tossed it to me with a wink.” – The Iron King

“Geez, you guys. I know I'm popular and all, but seriously, you're a bit too co-dependent for me. I'm going to need you to step away from my personal bubble." A wispy vine-woman curled ivy tendrils around his arm, and he sliced through them with his dagger. "No! Bad Wraith! No touchie!” – The Iron Knight
