"Chase Williams is a demon hunter in the Circle, or at least he was supposed to be. On his fifteenth birthday, Chase stepped up to the altar to claim his elemental power, but it never came. Elemental magic is passed down to a hunter through the bloodline, but on Chase's birthday, the bloodline stopped.
Exiled without the Circle's protection, Chase has spent two years trying to survive a world riddled with half-demons and magic. When he has a run in with a frightened and seemingly innocent demon, he learns the Circle's agenda has changed: the Circle plans to unlock a portal and unleash pure-blood demons into the world. Vowing to stop them, and knowing he can't do it alone, Chase forms a reluctant alliance with Rayna — a sexy witch with an attitude and a secret.
In their attempt to stop them, Chase and Rayna find themselves in the middle of the Circle's plan, leaving one of them to decide what their friendship is worth, and the other's life depending on it."

My Thoughts:

Exiled is a book that I definitely wish I had picked up much sooner than I did. The story is kinda amazing and you will lose yourself in this fantasy world. M.R. Merrick takes creatures and monsters we have always known, and puts his own spin on them and makes them unlike anything you have read before. Exiled is another book I have the blogging world to thank for. I highly doubt I would have heard of this one if not for you guys. Hidden gems like this are one of the absolute best things about blogging. I love discovering books that you wouldn't normally stumble upon elsewhere.

The characters in Exiled are the kind of characters that it is just very easy to love. They truly come to life and you feel like you actually know them, and in a way you do. I immediately felt like I could be best friends with Chase and Rayna. Also, none of the characters are just there. Each character brings something to the story and makes it better.

I’m going to start with Chase since he is our hero and main character. Chase is simply fun to read about. He is kickass, but funny too. Chase has a sense of responsibility that is way beyond his years, but he is still a teen. He isn’t perfect, and he makes mistakes. He acts impulsively, but he always has good intentions and is a good person. He really grows into his own person and realizes just because you were taught something your whole life, doesn't necessarily make it true.

Now I must talk about Rayna, because I absolutely loved this gal! She didn't take crap from anyone and could handle herself in a fight. She never backed down and I loved her determination and that she was willing to face difficult things. Best part, she was incredibly smart as well. I always enjoy girls that are intelligent and can kick your butt.

The next character I want to talk about I cannot decide if I love or hate. He is definitely interesting and I am excited to see his story develop. Vincent is a very powerful vampire and he clearly has a soft spot for Rayna. He isn’t really good, but I don’t think he is truly evil either. He kinda skirts the line and I kinda like that about him.

The plot in Exiled is intriguing with lots of twists and turns. It moves at an addictive pace and you will not get bored. There are ups and downs as the story unravels and I enjoyed watching Chase go through it all. The book will make you smile, but it will also make you cry. My one tiny complaint is that I was able to predict some of the outcome (this may just be that I read too much). I saw certain things coming and got a bit frustrated with Chase for not figuring it out. Other than this tiny thing, I really and truly loved the story.

All in all, Exiled is a book for urban fantasy fans! This book will keep you addicted and dying for the next book! The ending definitely leaves you wanting more!
