Character Spotlight: Zachary Moore

Picking a character to spotlight this week was harder than normal. I just could not think of a character that I had a real urge to write about. And then it smacked me in the face; I have not done a spotlight on Zachary Moore from the Shade series by Jeri Smith-Ready yet. I consider myself a member of Team Kilt, so I really do not know why it has taken me so long to do this post. So, here is the very long overdue spotlight on Zachary Moore also known as Zach.

Zach is one of those characters that I literally fell in love with the moment he opened his mouth. Literally, I think he said a sentence and I just knew I was going to love him. There was just something about him that caught my attention immediately. And no it was not just that lovely Scottish accent, although that is really nice.

Zach is a swoon-worthy character that blows a lot of other swoony characters out of the water. The way he is with Aura is wonderful, to put it simply. He is also incredibly patient. He puts up with a lot from Aura and her inability to let go of Logan. There are not many guys out there who would have waited the way Zach did. I’m not trying to put Aura down, I love her, but my point is that it was not an easy situation for Zach to deal with, but he did it for her. The scenes with Zach and Aura can and will melt your heart.

Over the course of the three books, Zach’s character sees a lot of growth. Certain events push him to the limit, and while he may not come out the same on the other side, he still makes it through them. Zach is very strong and it takes a lot to keep him down. He is the kind of character that will never give up without a fight and I think this is my absolute favorite thing about him.

One final thing about Zach, he wears a kilt….

Favorite Zach Quotes:
“I can't forget you, any more than I can forget my own name." –Shift

“Instead I crawled next to him, snuggling close. "Zach, wake up." "Can't. Sleeping." I pressed my mouth to his in a full, deep kiss. "Second thought, not sleeping.” –Shine

This one isn’t Zach, but it is about him, and well I just like it:
“Missing Logan was an emptiness, an ache so dull and deep, it was a permanent part of me. I would never truly get over his death, but someday I would find peace.
Missing Zachary, on the other hand, was a searing knife in the gut. I burned to save him from the horrible fates I imagined, and the need to be in his arms again set my skin ablaze.
One boy was gone forever. The other was gone now.” -Shine
