Blog Tour: Crash by: Nicole Williams (Review and Giveaway)- UPDATED

Welcome to my stop on the Crash Blog Tour hosted by Books Over Boys

Summary:

"Southpointe High is the last place Lucy wanted to wind up her senior year of school. Right up until she stumbles into Jude Ryder, a guy whose name has become its own verb, and synonymous with trouble. He's got a rap sheet that runs longer than a senior thesis, has had his name sighed, shouted, and cursed by more women than Lucy dares to ask, and lives at the local boys home where disturbed seems to be the status quo for the residents. Lucy had a stable at best, quirky at worst, upbringing. She lives for wearing the satin down on her ballet shoes, has her sights set on Juilliard, and has been careful to keep trouble out of her life. Up until now.

Jude's everything she needs to stay away from if she wants to separate her past from her future. Staying away, she's about to find out, is the only thing she's incapable of.

For Lucy Larson and Jude Ryder, love's about to become the thing that tears them apart."

Oh. My. Jude. Crash is a book that is impossible to put down. Those of you that are fans of Easy, Pushing the Limits, and Beautiful Disaster are sure to love this book as well. I am such a sucker for books like this. I love romance stories that have an edge and that is exactly what Crash is. This is not your lighthearted romance novel, but it is so much better because of that.

Lucy and Jude are a match made in trouble. Lucy is trying to save the world and Jude wants to destroy it. Both have had difficult pasts and they kind of let that past dictate their future. Jude thinks he is worthless and Lucy spends a lot of time trying to prove him wrong. However, Jude has an incredibly thick skull. Their relationship is not easy, not by a long shot, and it takes a lot to make it work. Then just when things start to look up, things fall apart again because the world is clearly set against them. Can they make it work?

I find that with a lot of contemporary YA novels, they seem to follow some sort of pattern or have the same typical elements. While Crash does have these elements, like the bad boy and the good girl with a hidden past, it still feels original. Did I see some of it coming? Yes. However there was still a lot about it that surprised me. When I thought things were good to go, I was shocked to find that there was still more that could go wrong. Did predicting some of it correctly ruin the book for me? Not at all. I still loved every minute of the book.

Like I stated previously, this is a serious book. Does it have it's funny moments? Of course, but as a whole the story is quite serious. Both of these teens have it rough and things always seem to get worse. Nicole Williams really makes your heart break for these two. The entire book is one giant emotional rollercoaster. As a reader you will be happy, then sad, then heartbroken, and then angry. It is impossible to get a handle on your emotions. I love a book that can do this to me. A book that can make me feel so much is really something special.

The reason I don't rate books with stars is because frankly I am terrible at it. I tend to rate any book I like really high simply because after reading it, I am in the after glow of my enjoyment of the book. This is why my reviews are simply my thoughts on the book. So where I am going with this? Here is where I'm going: there are books that you love and then there are books that stay with you forever. Crash is the kind of book that will stay with you forever. There is no way you will ever shake Lucy and Jude no matter how hard you try.

All in all Crash is, in a word, wonderful. Contemporary fans, this is a must read. I highly highly recommend it.

Now for all of you who want more Jude, well stop back here again soon for a character interview with the one and only Jude Ryder.

  7. I just recently heard about this series. It's everywhere! I'm really glad you loved Crash and I completely agree about ratings. They are so hard for me. I want more feelings than numbers. You saying this is a forever book means more to me than giving it 5 stars. Great review!

    1. I am just really terrible with ratings haha. I use it on goodreads, but that is about it. I would rather just read and see what someone thought then go by how many stars.
