Mini Review: Shadows (Lux #0.5) by: Jennifer L. Armentrout

So, I know it is Saturday, and Saturday usually means a Character Spotlight, but today I decided to do a post for the JLA Reading Challenge.
I have reviewed both Obsidian and Onyx before, so I decided to post my thoughts on the novella Shadows.
Release Date: February 21, 2012 from Entangled

"The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane.

Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.

Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in.

Captivated. Lured. Loved.

Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence...and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself."

My Thoughts:

Shadows is the perfect read for fans of the Lux Series. It gives the reader a lot of insight as to why Daemon acts the way he does. I read Shadows after reading Obsidian, so it was nice to get some explanation for his erratic behavior. Dawson was everything I expected him to be after reading Obsidian. He was incredibly sweet and nice, he is what we know Daemon is capable of being if he didn't have so much responsibility pushed on him. The relationship between Dawson and Bethany was incredibly sweet, but it has nothing on Daemon and Katy in my opinion. Their difference in their relationships is like the difference between fire and ice. Dawson and Bethany are what you would normally expect from a paranormal relationship, while Daemon and Katy break all the rules. I also truly enjoyed seeing the relationship between Dawson and Dee. It becomes clear how incredibly close they were and it just makes your heart break even more at her loss. All in all, Shadows is a great novella and perfect for those of us who are die hard Lux fans. Jennifer L. Armentrout has yet to disappoint me with anything she has ever written.
