"Leader of the most powerful army in the heavens, Zacharel has been deemed nearly too dangerous, too ruthless--and if he isn't careful, he'll lose his wings. But this warrior with a heart of ice will not be deterred from his missions at any cost...until a vulnerable human tempts him with a carnal pleasure he's never known before.
Accused of a crime she did not commit, Annabelle Miller has spent four years in an institution for the criminally insane. Demons track her every move, and their king will stop at nothing to have her. Zacharel is her only hope for survival, but is the brutal angel with a touch as hot as hell her salvation--or her ultimate damnation?"

My Thoughts:

So first, I must admit that the cover of this book is what caught my attention. I mean, just look at it! It just promises sexy-ness. Good news! It delivered sexy-ness as well. I have not read much adult pararomance aside from the Sookie Stackhouse novels and after reading Wicked Nights I will definitely be looking for more of this genre.

Pretty recently, I have formed a new addiction to angels and that is part of the reason I picked up this book. Zacharel, or Zachie as I am going to refer to him, was exactly what I was expecting. He was a fierce and protective warrior, but years of fighting have left him pretty much desensitized to everything. He doesn't care for anything and is pretty much just going through the motions of life. However, everything changes for Zachie when he meets Annabelle.

Annabelle has had a very rough life. She has spent the past four years in an institution for the criminally insane for a crime she did not commit. However, she did not let this break her spirit. Despite some of the terrible things that were done to her, she did not break and I could not help but admire her for that. She is the definition of a fighter. Along with being strong, she has a snarky sense of humor and I always appreciate good wit and sarcasm.

Zachie and Annabelle are exactly what each other needs. Zachie needed someone to put him in his place and Annabelle needed someone to care for her. They work well as a team, helping the other as opposed to holding the other back. Zachie is obviously a great fighter, but Annabelle can definitely hold her own and together they are pretty kickass.

The ending to Wicked Nights honestly surprised me. I did not see it coming and that is always a plus for me. I like to be surprised and shocked. It's no fun when you can guess everything about the outcome. Also, another great part was the romance. The book delivered some really sexy scenes. The romance was quite steamy, to put it lightly.

While I generally enjoyed Wicked Nights, I do have one complaint. I did not like the parts of the book that were from Thane's point of view. In my opinion, they detracted from the story rather than adding to it. I felt as if they took the story off track for a bit and were not really necessary to the main plot of the book. I did however enjoy getting inside both Zachie's and Annabelle's head.

Overall Wicked Nights is perfect for pararomance fans. The romance is to die for and the story line will keep you on the edge of your seat. After this I will be reading more Gena Showalter.
