Welcome to my stop on the Sweet Evil Blog Tour hosted by Fall Into Books. I have a review for you guys, a character interview, AND a chance to win your own copy of Sweet Evil.
Summary:
“What if there were teens whose lives depended on being bad influences? This is life for sons and daughters of fallen angels in Sweet Evil.
Tenderhearted Southern girl, Anna Whitt, was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She’s aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but it isn’t until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage, and her will-power is put to the test. He’s the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.
A cross-country trip to meet her father forces Anna to face the reality that hope and love are not options for her kind. When she confronts her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?”

Review:
Sweet Evil was a great ride and I loved reading every single minute of it. It bothered me how busy I was, because if I had the time I would have sat down and finished this book in one sitting. As it was, I was stealing time all over the place just to read this book.

Anna was a great lead. At first she appears to be the ultimate good girl. However, as the books progresses, the reader learns that Anna has a dark side. It would be very easy for Anna to slip over to the “dark side”, but the fact that she tries so hard to deny it makes her a better person. As the novel moves along, Anna grows into a very different person. She starts off timid and for lack of a better word weak, only to become sure of herself and much stronger. By the end of the novel, Anna is a character that realizes life not always easy, and you do not always get what you want, and that sometimes there are things that are worth sacrifice.
Kaidan is a lovely, lovely male lead. For one, he has a British accent so naturally he is swoon-worthy right off the bat. Kaidan really is the bad boy that everyone warns you away from, but there is just something about him that makes girls fall for him. Anna is no exception to this rule. Anna is able to see the good in Kai, even if he doesn’t see it himself. The tension between Anna and Kai is palpable and made for some very sexy scenes. Kaidan goes from hot to cold in about three seconds and is very hard to get a read on. He is mysterious and I would like to know more about his past. He can be very sweet one moment, only to be a complete jerk the next. Simply, Kai is the guy every girl wants but knows better than to have.
The ending to Sweet Evil broke my heart a little bit. It was very bittersweet. All of the major plot points wrapped up, but some of the events will break the readers heart. Anna is happy, but knows that sometimes sacrifice is necessary. I cannot wait for the continuation of Anna and Kaidan’s story. There are definitely some plot lines that could be expanded on and I would love to see the characters develop over the course of a few books. All in all, I highly recommend this book!
Character Interview with Kaidan Rowe
So as a special treat, today I have everyone’s favorite son
of Lust here with me to answer a few questions. Without further adieu, I present Kaidan Rowe to you:
busy work schedule to be with me today.
So Kaidan, can I call you Kai? Thanks for
taking the time out of what I am sure is a very
Call me whatever you’d like, luv. I’m happy to be here. Hopefully it’ll be a pleasure for us both...
*blushes* uhhh what... Oh right, questions!
So, don’t hate me for this question, but I have to
know. Is the accent real or do you use it as a way to help get girls? Not that you really
need much help…
*laughs* I don’t have an accent. I talk like all
the other blokes in England. Alright...perhaps I play it up a bit for the
American girls since they find it so enamoring. But yes, it’s real.
If you had to describe yourself in two words, what
would they be? And why?
Naughty boy. Because I’m a boy and I’m not on
the nice list.
Now I know you have a lot of Nephilim friends (do
you call them friends?), but it is clear that Anna is something different. What is it
about Anna that makes her stand out above the others for you
The others understand the life we have to live, and they came to learn early how careful they must be. Anna is like a little fawn running out in front of cars, trying to save baby bunnies or something. She lacks the self-preservation instinct, and it drives me mad.
The others understand the life we have to live, and they came to learn early how careful they must be. Anna is like a little fawn running out in front of cars, trying to save baby bunnies or something. She lacks the self-preservation instinct, and it drives me mad.
I have to know, what were you thinking when you
first offered to help Anna and drive her cross-country?
I’d already seen her attraction for me. I knew
she’d be a tough sell, but I also knew I could have her by the end of the trip, and it’d be
best for her to lose that innocence, but then...not sure how, but she completely
screwed with my mind. I meant what I told her mum. I was fascinated by her. Being around
Anna is like...I’ve no clue how to explain it. Like your spirit is being cuddled.
Shite, that sounds lame.
Would you ever consider getting a tattoo, because
it seems that it is drummer law to have a tattoo? If you don’t want to do the whole
needle thing, how about henna or sharpies?
Even the temp tatts fade faster on me. I’d have
loads of ink if I could. Bloody shame that I can’t.
Speaking of drummers, why drums? Is it because
there is a serious lack of good looking drummers in the world or something deeper?
Guitarists are usually the front men, doing the
talking. I prefer to hang back, bit more mysterious and all. Plus, I play guitar as
well, but I find that I can completely lose myself deeper in a drum beat.
Okay, now I have some personal questions –don’t
scowl just yet – what was it like growing up? Did you always know you were Nephilim
or did you find out when you were older? Okay now you can scowl at me.
*pretends to scowl* I always knew. I’ll spare
you the details, but I was never sheltered nothing was ever hidden.
Do you think you would have preferred to grow up
like Anna did in almost blissful ignorance and then be thrust into the Neph world?
Or grow up the way you did?
Growing up with the knowledge had its downfalls
and advantages. But Anna’s upbringing had something that makes her strong in
a way I could never hope to be, even if I’d grown up in that sort of environment.
This is a question that has been boggling me for a
while. What made you buy that necklace for Anna? You had to know she would think
it meant more than you wanted it to mean.
Ugh. The necklace. I’ve no clue. She just stared
at it forever, and I knew she didn’t have the money. Moment of weakness, I suppose.
Alright, one final question, and I will make it a
silly one. What is your favorite candy?
Anything Cadbury. Especially if it’s melted and
dripped across...er...never mind.
I think I like Cadbury now...
Thanks for stopping by today! I really appreciate
it and I am sure your other fans do as well. Looking forward to finding out what is in
store for you next.
It was a pleasure, Teresa.
