"then.

When Sam met Grace, he was a wolf and she was a girl. Eventually he found a way to become a boy, and their love transformed from curious distance to the intense closeness of shared lives.

now.

That should have been the end of their story. But Grace was not meant to stay human. Now she is the wolf. And the wolves of Mercy Falls are about to be hunted in one final, spectacular kill.

forever.

Sam would do anything for Grace. But can one boy and one love really change a hostile, predatory world? The past, the present, and the future will all collide in one pure moment - a moment of death or life, farewell or forever."

My Thoughts:

I picked up Shiver and I was not a really big fan, but curiosity won out so I decided to read Linger. Linger was a little bit better, but it still wasn’t one of my favorites. Then I picked up Forever, and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about the book. I loved the characters and the action and the romance, and then I reached the end of the book, and it thoroughly let me down.

Personally, I felt that the ending lacked the necessary closure for the end of a series. I read the last page and honestly did not realize that it was the end. I went to turn the page to start the next chapter and then I was staring at the author acknowledgements. I restarted my nook to make sure it wasn’t glitching and I was missing something, but no that really was the end and I felt unsatisfied to say the least. I just thought too much was left open since we do not really find out what exactly is going to happen to the characters. When a series concludes, I want more than just implications and assumptions, I want a definite conclusion. The ending we are left with could go numerous different ways.

While I was disappointed with the ending, I really did enjoy everything that lead up to it. The pacing in Forever was much better than the previous books as was the action. I just felt like so much more happened in this book. The plot had more depth and the story had more to it than just romance. While the romance definitely took a back seat in this novel, it was just as sweet as ever. The depth of Sam and Grace’s relationship is still present, but it is not thrown in your face constantly.

Cole St. Claire is the best thing that ever happened to these novels. His personality is refreshing, and despite his issues he came across as the strongest character in this novel. While Sam was drawing into himself because Grace was gone, Cole was the one to keep his head on his shoulders and deal with the problems at hand. He shows drastic character growth throughout this novel and really develops into the person you knew he could be when you first met him. Reading from his perspective was by far my favorite and I would have been content to read the whole book from his point of view.

All in all, Forever was a great read outside of the ending. People who enjoyed the first two novels are sure to enjoy this one as well. Would I recommend this series, probably not, but I can understand the appeal it holds for some. However, if you have started the series it is definitely worth finishing because it does get better. I just wish the ending was more conclusive.
