"When Jacqueline follows her longtime boyfriend to the college of his choice, the last thing she expects is a breakup. After two weeks in shock, she wakes up to her new reality: she’s single, attending a state university instead of a music conservatory, ignored by her former circle of friends, stalked by her ex’s frat brother, and failing a class for the first time in her life.

Her econ professor gives her an email address for Landon, the class tutor, who shows her that she’s still the same intelligent girl she’s always been. As Jacqueline becomes interested in more from her tutor than a better grade, his teasing responses make the feeling seem mutual. There’s just one problem—their only interactions are through email.

Meanwhile, a guy in her econ class proves his worth the first night she meets him. Nothing like her popular ex or her brainy tutor, Lucas sits on the back row, sketching in a notebook and staring at her. At a downtown club, he disappears after several dances that leave her on fire. When he asks if he can sketch her, alone in her room, she agrees—hoping for more.

Then Jacqueline discovers a withheld connection between her supportive tutor and her seductive classmate, her ex comes back into the picture, and her stalker escalates his attention by spreading rumors that they’ve hooked up. Suddenly appearances are everything, and knowing who to trust is anything but easy."

My Thoughts:

How do I know when I really like a book? Well I have to go back and re-read the last couple of pages immediately. Why do I do this? Probably because I just do not want the goodness to end. Now with that being said, I had to re-read the end of Easy at least three times before I fully accepted that the book was over and the story concluded. I was sad and immediately missed the characters. This book is very easy (sorry I have a strange obsession with puns) to fall in love with.

Firstly, I need to point out that I love books that center around college students. There should be more books within this age range. My initial attraction to the book was because it was about college students. As a recent college grad, I always appreciate books like this. It was a big part of why I liked this novel.

This book is not your happy-go-lucky gooey eyed love story, and I loved it all the more because of that. It centered around some very realistic circumstances and created a very believable story. I mean, how many girlfriends have followed their boyfriend to college only for him to break it off shortly after, or vice versa. It is a common situation that can end up altering your future forever. Now this is something I cannot stress enough, I loved the way the author portrayed certain common stereotypes. I will not say about what because it will give too much away, but after you read the book you will know exactly what I am referring to. She took those stereotypes and smacked them in the face for being so stupid.

I will admit that I did see certain events coming while I was reading; however in this case it really did not bother me. I was still engrossed in the novel and nothing and no one could pull me away. This is probably because although I could see the what, I did not know the how or the why. I am not going to lie; I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. After reading so many good reviews, I was sure I was going to be let down (sadly this happens a lot). However, Easy did not let me down at all; it was just as good as I expected it to be.

The characters Webber has created are really wonderful. I found Jacqueline to be strong, not because she is super girl, but because she overcomes obstacles, is determined, and perseveres. Lucas, well, just *sigh*. That is really all you need to say about him. I loved his character and his flaws. If you haven’t noticed yet, I really like flawed characters (I like perfect ones too) but I just find flawed characters to be more relatable and realistic. Because lets be serious, sometimes perfect can get boring, sometimes it’s fun to yell (case and point: Daemon and Katy).

All in all, Easy is a book you need to pick up. However, I will warn that it is for mature readers. It is not truly Young Adult, but an Upper Young Adult book. I would not want a 13 or 14 year old reading this book. Anyhoo now that I have read this, I am going to have to go out and read some more Tammara Webber.

In other news: will I ever be able to get through a post without mentioning Daemon Black or JLA?

  3. I was just reading a blog post the other day on how there is a new genre that is developing that is called 'New adult' which is based on characters in the 18-26 age range and I remember seeing that this book was listed as an example. I always love reading books about college students.

I can't wait to read this one. And I also re-read the last pages of a book if I really loved it, haha!

Great review. I'm a new follower and I like the title of your blog :)
